Halloween is just over 2 months away and it's absolutely one of my favorite holidays. I was actually Ace Ventura last year and me and my coworker have pretty awesome duo costumes planned this year. I also have a good friend getting married and having a Masquerade party to celebrate so why not join in on an awesome challenge! #leanforhalloween seems pretty perfect. I'm getting back on track this week and it's the perfect time to start a challenge. I do my weigh-in days on Saturday so I will update every Saturday on my progress. HOW TO DETOX FROM THE AMERICAN “Weight Loss Challenge”. We’ve all been there. You reach a weight or fitness level that you’re unhappy with and join a group that competes to lose the most weight in a relatively short amount of time. The challenge probably included things like: ⬇️Drastic calorie reduction 🍕Food categorized as good, bad, clean, and cheats 🏃♀️Intense workouts that included tons of burpees and put a cramp in your already busy schedule 🍝Inability to enjoy meals with your family 😢Feelings of disappointment when you didn’t reach your goal 😢Feelings of disappointment when you quickly gain weight back after finishing your challenge 🥺Feeling like a failure Double tap if that sounds familiar. I have to admit that I’ve fallen victim to those rules as a woman AND as a trainer. I remember final weigh-ins at our gym being filled with tears and disappointment, and even if they DID make progress, it was never enough and they were exhausted and starving by the end. Thankfully I’ve found that there is a BETTER WAY!!! Do you need to detox from this nasty “weight loss challenge” mindset? Ask yourself these 4 questions.... 𝟭- Can I maintain this for a lifetime? If the changes you make can’t be sustained, you’re just spinning your wheels. Change is always hard, but starting small is the key to lasting success. 𝟮-Am I enjoying this routine? Exercise may not feel fun at first, but you can explore lots of options to find something that you truly enjoy and look forward to. A million burpees aren’t for everyone and they’re not necessary for success. 𝟯- Do I speak kindly to myself? If you’re constantly bashing yourself for “failing” or “not sticking with it”, it’s probably time to make a change. Negative mental talk does yourself and those around you NO GOOD.
