So one island wasn't enough 🏝. My friend and I hopped on a short ferry ride to Formentera for the day. We didn't think we could be blown away any further! We were very, and happily so, wrong. Once we were at Formentera, leaving my heavily 'missed' fiat panda behind 😂😂, I thought we could hire a moped to ride around the small island because I'm so cool, right? So wrong again, and not so happily this time 🤦♀️ The problem was, I'd never ridden a moped before. So I stupidly lied to the rental company: 'of course I can ride it', I said to the doubtful lady, who handed over the keys halfheartedly 🙄. 'How difficult could it be?' I thought. Ahh well, think again girl! I found myself the laughing-stock to a group of builders working away on a rooftop, the best seat in the house for this show. They'd paused their labour to watch me clowning with the moped that I so confidently said, 'yer, yer I can ride it!' The thing was so heavy and I was struggling big time. I looked up, and the tattoo clad builders all stood hardly containing themselves with laughter, yer I hoped they rolled of the roof laughing (dw, it wasn't high). At least I received a standing ovation for the show! 😫 Eventually, I called a friend in England who's super savvy with anything that has an engine 🏍🤓 and was my only hope to walk my silly self through this. It actually worked! After a verbal, dummies guide on how to ride a moped, I got on my way and succeeded thanks to them. I did a few test runs up the dirt road. HOWEVER, I turned back to find my very cautious yet very lovely friend's face to be one of impending death 🥺. That look was enough for me to give it up, 'ahh forget it', I sighed 😂 And so we settled for pastel coloured bicycles in the end haha 🚴♀️🚴♀️.
