Here's a pic from a quick jaunt up to Mt Seymour first pump on Monday. I could see the peak in the sun when I left the parking lot but by the time I got there 35 mins later things were looking pretty soupy. I waited for a while hoping for a break in the clouds. The wind was whipping the clouds by pretty quickly so I had hope it would clear even if only briefly. I was pleasantly surprised when I found some random coookies in my bag from the week before. They went down quickly after passing the brief sniff test. I was regretting my choice of shorts as I waited so did some random calisthenics to stay warm. After maybe half an hour I noticed a thinning of the clouds so I grabbed my camera. This shot opened up for a few seconds and then I was back in the soup. My jog down was quick but careful as I yelled out intermittently hoping not to startle the young bears I almost ran into on the way up. I got back to my car as it started to sprinkle, happy to have avoided an encounter with the bears.
I took these photos on a camping trip in Pisgah National Forest last summer with Jack. We’ve always loved the Carolina mountains. I remember my first time driving along the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway, breathing in the cool mountain air and feeling the freedom that comes with it. We’ve both had memorable times here. And now, we’re living in it! These mountains are our front and backyard. We see them outside our studio window and catch the sun as it sets behind them. I never knew I’d get this lucky in life - married to someone creative, living life in the mountains, and doing what we love everyday. What a time to be alive! We’re so so thankful over here ✨
