September in Devon where the gold and orange of the bracken is in sharp contrast with the bleached grasses and aqua waters. This is another favourite stretch of the Devon coastal path. . . Acrylic painting on canvas board 30 x 30 cm. With @goldenpaints Probably needs a bit of adjustment but I’ve been enjoying abstracting the plants.
Seriously a challenge to capture the charm of the small village of Barcos in the Douro Valley. It was like stepping back in time. Everyone was so friendly to us. Some small tours visited their church but Patrick and I realized while walking around at dusk that we were the only out of towners staying in the one rental apartment in town. They were preparing for the weekend wine festival and had strung homemade flags from house to house made from cut pieces of old sheets, shirts and scrap fabric. Sustainable and adorable ❤️. The only downside was the recorded church bell / chime / little ditty that sort of sounded like happy birthday and merry Christmas in a mash up. It reminded us of the time every hour and on the half hour. We tried to consume all the port wine that was generously left for us by our host family to drown out the sound. We learned the following day that the 89 year old priest is quite fond of the chime and that things will most definitely not change until he “retires.” 🤣. So if you visit bring your ear plugs and get a guide to take you out to plenty of wineries before bed!!! 🍷 . . #barcos#portugal#dourovalley#douro#port#smalltownportugal#travelinspires#travellingartist#travelingartist#travelinbetween#travelartist
I keep coming back to this quote even though I'm mostly by the sea but it's the 'calling' that draws me to it. That pull towards a place, towards the feeling it gives. It's a thing that cannot be properly explained yet it's so deeply felt by many. Yeah ...I did run out of room for the full quote but don't worry, the words still exist 😂 'The mountains are calling and I must go.' John Muir
'A woman in motion' Took a few days off of Instagram to spend time getting into my work here on the farm and be more present in real life. It's incredible how addictive phones and social media are and I was so aware of how disconnected it can make you even after a short while spent on it.
I got to watercolour at 36,000 feet at 2am! I think that’s pretty cool 💕. Swipe right for proof - this is what kept me going the last 2 hours of an 8.5 hour red-eye flight! . #watercolour#travellingartist

Getting inspired for my next body of work at Hellbroner Point on the Italian side of the mountains.. . A touch of altitude means we are sitting and resting before going down in the cable car again before returning to the French side Aiguille du Midi. . #inspiration#travellingartist#uphigh#iceandrocks#glaciers
