Sneak peek of a natural diamond look headed for the #tiff red carpet this evening. Did you know there are diamond mines in Canada? I recently learned that the world’s leading diamond producers are committed to water conservation and recycle on average 83% of the water used in diamond recovery. They also protect 3x more land then they use for mining, equivalent to the size of Yosemite National Park. I love seeing industries doing their part. @realisadiamond #realisrare #totalclarity #sponsored
By examining the world’s seven leading diamond producers, the #diamondproducersassociation (DPA) Total Clarity report shines a light on the global impact of modern diamond mining on our workforce, communities and planet. Did you know that the diamond industry contributes $16 billion in net positive socio-economic and environmental benefits. “Every diamond purchase represents food on the table; better-living conditions; better healthcare; and much more” In 1967, Botswana had 6kms of paved road, today it has 7000kms. There are now over 300 schools, as opposed to 3 in 1966 and every child now receives free primary and secondary education. Diamonds are transforming communities and the lives of those within. - Total Clarity #morethanadiamond • • • • #naturaldiamonds #realdiamonds #reallove #roughdiamonds #diamondindustry #diamondjewellery #diamondring #diamondsdogood #totalclarity #diamondlover #formefromme #diamondsareforever

Posted @withrepost • @travisburkephotography These mountains formed over hundreds of millions of years as two tectonic plates collided and pushed the earth upward. Glaciers then continued to shape the rugged peaks and deep valleys. This process has created some of the most iconic landscapes in North America, like Jasper National Park, pictured here. I also recently learned that Northern Canada is one of the few places on earth where something else extremely rare has formed. In the earth's mantle, deep beneath the surface, over billions of years and under an immense amount of pressure, the hardest natural material known to man is created—diamonds! Over time, these precious gems have been brought to the surface in magma from volcanic eruptions, forming Kimberlite pipes where diamonds are found. Today, these diamonds are mined in sustainable ways that you might not expect: mining companies use efficient methods that recycle water, protect 3x the land used for mining, and pay workers on average 5x the living wage in their countries. Now more than ever it’s important to understand where our resources come from and how we can help protect these places for future generations to come. @realisadiamond #realisrare #sponsored #totalclarity #canada
Repost from @realisadiamond • • • The leading diamond producing companies protect three times the amount of land they use for mining, which globally is roughly the size of New York City. Currently, more than 1,000 square miles are protected in regions such as Australia, Russia, Canada, South Africa and Botswana (pictured here). #realisrare #diamondfacts #totalclarity
Leading diamond producers recognize that mining activities are complex and can affect the air, land and water. Thus, the diamond industry is constantly evaluating its operations and instituting new programs to improve environmental performance and work to make tangible progress to minimize environmental impact. In fact, diamond mining companies actually protect three times the amount of land that they use. Learn more at https://buff.ly/2yDdUQz #diamondsdogood #realisrare #totalclarity

For the fun part of my day I was #experimenting with #reactivecolor. Every color on this post is a #chemicalreaction using water and various #organicmaterials. These colors were created by layering different reactive colors on top of each other. I applied one coat of #superpenetratingoil on top of the darker tone and the subtle green tone. The beauty of reactive color is having #totalclarity. Which is further enhanced with #organicfinishes. Imagine the possibilities. Color doesn't have to come from "Stain". You have so many more options than what is available at your local store......
"It's time diamonds become symbolic of the good that they do," said Marcus ter Haar, D.E.F. Board Member and Managing Director of Okavango Diamond Company (ODC), in his address to the Plenary Meeting of the Policy Dialogue on Natural Resource-based Development earlier this summer. "Botswana has produced and continues to produce some of the worlds most impressive and valuable gems the world has seen through the last five decades of responsible mining and selling. These gemstones have generated income that contributes to a nation being housed, schooled and provided with healthcare and infrastructure. Diamonds have built the foundations for a modern progressive African nation," he said. To learn more about how #diamondsdogood in Botswana visit diamondsdogood.com

South African photographer @craighowes has seen many of the world’s most incredible, natural wonders. However, on a recent trip that kept him closer to home, he learned how much of his home country’s naturally beautiful landscape has been preserved thanks in part to efforts by local diamond producing companies. Did you know that the modern diamond industry has a relatively small footprint worldwide, using a total global area only about the size of New York City for diamond recovery? Not only that, but diamond producing companies protects three-times the amount of land used for mining worldwide. #realisrare #totalclarity

We promise that all Canadamark diamonds are responsibly mined with respect for the sustainability of the natural environment. It’s one thing for us to operate this way, but we are part of the larger diamond industry and this week we are going to dive a bit deeper into some of the good that diamonds do. At our Ekati mine, 98% of water used in our operations is recycled - but did you know the industry average is 83%? #canadamarkclarity #totalclarity
⁣Traveling does something to you—if you do it right, you leave the country feeling like you took a little bit of it with you. ⠀ ⠀ So here I am reminiscing about my trip to South Africa, one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been—rich in people, history, culture. Amazingly diverse in its landscapes, from mountains to caves, from wildlife to cityscapes, from beaches to vineyards.⠀ ⠀ Did you know that South Africa also happens to be a leading producer of diamonds? Contrary to popular belief, there have been many changes in modern diamond mining over the last 20 years. ⠀ ⠀ Today leading diamond producers employ over 77K people worldwide creating over $3.9B in local benefits through civic partnerships. Most goods are sourced locally and most employees are also from local communities.⠀ ⠀ And because this beautiful landscape is what makes South Africa unique, environmentally friendly practices have been put in place, such as 83% of water used being recycled. The industry has also committed to reinvesting locally into social programs, including education and healthcare.⠀ ⠀ It’s good to know that there is a shift to preserve the natural beauty of a country like South Africa but more importantly that profits stay in the country to benefit the communities that do the work.⠀ ⠀ Link in my bio/stories if you want to find out more. @realisadiamond #realisrare #totalclarity #sponsored⠀
The landscapes in Canada are like nowhere else in the world, but I think the thing that impresses me the most is how grand and distinct the mountains are. Simply put, the Canadian Rockies are nothing short of awe-inspiring. Every time I visit, it’s like I’m seeing them for the first time all over again. I recently learned that Canada is also home to some of the world’s most brilliant natural diamonds. Leading diamond producers are committed to water conservation and recycle on average an impressive 83% of the water used in diamond recovery. The diamond mining industry also has a relatively small land footprint due to the compact size of their operations. Globally, leading diamond miners use a combined area of 325 square miles – an area about the size of New York City. And they invest significantly in conservation efforts, protecting 3x the land they use for mining, an area equivalent in size to Yosemite National Park. @RealisaDiamond #realisrare #totalclarity #sponsored

The landscape in Northern Alberta, Canada is one of the most beautiful I’ve seen. From my first time seeing the northern lights and attending the annual Dark Sky Festival to this incredible canoe trip, I always leave with a new sense of wonder and appreciation for this magical place. As it turns out, Canada is one of the countries in which the diamond mining industry has had a positive impact on land and water conservation. Leading diamond producers protect 3x more land than they use for mining, and recycle 83% of the water used during the process. That means landscapes similar to the one above will be around and untouched for generations to come. Huge thanks to @realisadiamond for reaching out and inspiring me to become a little more educated on such a large and important topic. #realisrare #sponsored #totalclarity
