A lovely way to kick-start the weekend with a bit of @parkrunuk tourism at Tooting Bec 🏃🏼♀️🏃🏻♂️🏃🏼♀️ . . I don’t Parkrun often enough which I want to change as it’s such a good opportunity to push yourself over a short distance. Seeing so many people run, probably with so many different ‘whys’ as to why they run......it’s a real feel good way to spend a very small proportion of your Saturday. . . So great to meet up with @run_with_chrissie @thisdadcanrun @this_man_runs to begin developing a very cool idea we’ve had and are now working on with a few other beauts (watch this space) 😉 . . Really lovely to also meet @thefatmanrunneth and @bigrayruns today and have a chat. It was great to meet you guys! Hopefully we will meet again. . . Have a great weekend in the sun everyone 😘 xxx . . #tootingparkrun#parkrunuk#parkrun#pushyourself#parkrunsaturday#tootingbec#tootingbecpark#instarunnerfriends#instarunners#socialrunning#sunnyruns#findyourpassions#startyourweekendwell
Have you ever noticed the Tooting Common Fossil Tree? It's been located here round the back of the lake since 1898! The fossil is the remains of the base or stump of a tree from the Jurassic Purbeck Fossil Forest of Southern England, which formed about 145 million years ago. The fossil is significant because it represents the major element of the tree canopy of a forest that formed at a time when dinosaurs roamed the Earth! The fossil was a gift of local Victorian property developer, Alfred Heaver. It had previously stood in the grounds of the nearby Bedford Hill House, which was demolished at about this time to make way for the Heaver Estate. Messrs Lordon & Son of Trinity Road, Tooting, were contracted to transport it from Bedford Hill Park to the Common and to set it in a bed of cement, before railings and a plaque were later added. . . . . . . . . . . #balham#tooting#tootingbec#tootingcommon#streatham#furzedown#mitcham#earlsfield#collierswood#wimbledon#wandsworth#wandsworthcommon#balhamdailyprss
