How great is poetry for building vocabulary and working on pronunciation 📝 The change of season has given us the inspiration to write our own haikus all about the glorious SPRING weather 🌈🌸 For some, particularly EALD students, counting syllables and thinking of some strong descriptive words was really tricky! I created these vocab cards that highlighted each syllable then had the student clap it out as they recited it 👏🏻 These kids then just re-arranged the cards to form their poem, but in doing so learnt about the structure and features of a haiku without the added pressure and embarrassment of trying to think of words. Love when differentiation works well 🧡
Who else does ‘On the weekend writing’ on Mondays? ✍🏻📖 We usually start our week off with writing about our weekend on a Monday morning ☀️ It gives students the opportunity to share what they did on the weekend, which they are usually really eager to tell everyone about! 🗯 As we have gained more confidence with writing over the year, we have used our @twinklaustralia Question Cards to add more detail to our work ✍🏻 Using the cards as prompts, students are encouraged to include details such as Who? What? Where? Why? When? How? ❓❓ #prepteacher#twinklaustralia
What’s this? It looks like your normal white stickers... wrong! I received my first CLEAR stickers order from Miss D’Accione and I am so excited! They literally look like floating rainbows 🌈 the kids will surely love this 🥰🥰
❄️🎅🏽Santa’s Little Helper🎅🏽❄️ Did you know that you’re following Australia’s head elf!?🎄 The “real” Santa Claus called me to work for him in the NORTH POLE for a couple of Christmases 😍 SWIPE to see the magic of being above the arctic circle (GUYS the coldest day we had was MINUS 37❄️). I looked after Santa’s reindeer, drove husky sleighs🛷, worked at the North Pole post office, saw the NORTHERN LIGHTS ✨ I wonder if I should use this as my behaviour management ... 🤔🙊 “be good or I’ll tell SANTA!” Do you have a crazy job story? ☺️
I look like an absolute duffer in this first photo, but I’m just so stoked my vision for our hall decorations came together!! 😍 From smartboard tracing to cardboard cutouts to glitter foam silhouette cutting parties to this end result- stoked! Next stop: three K-2 Musical performances, full of cuteness and popstar overload 🙌🏼🕺💃🏽🎤
I’m excited for the next chapter of my journey as an educator... commencing the Master of International Education (IB) in 2020 at The University of Melbourne, currently ranked no.1 in Australia! More and more schools are recognising the value of an international education in a rapidly changing world. The IB provides a unique learning experience through a holistic education, challenging students to excel by encouraging them to think independently and drive their own learning. I see myself as a lifelong learner, so this is an exciting opportunity to work with an innovative and diverse education framework. It’s #ruokday, a reminder to check in on your loved ones and even yourself! It’s not always obvious when someone is not ok. Trust the signs. Trust your gut. Ask the question. #trustthesigns#ruok#ruokeveryday
📌part_2 💎Who is Imam Hussein? ⚔️What has happened so massive on Ashura in Karbal ✳️Ali Akbar fought very bravely. No one dared come close to him in single combat after he had killed many well known warriors. Umar ibn-e-Sa'ad ordered his soldiers to finish off the young man saying, "When he dies, Hussain will not want to live! Ali Akbar is the life of Hussain."💖 While a few soldiers attacked Ali Akbar another soldier slowly crept up to him and threw a spear at his chest with such ferocity that it penetrated his chest and he felt faint. As he was falling from his horse, he cried out. "O Father, my last salaam to you!"✨ As he hit the ground the spear broke but the blade remained lodged in Akbar's chest. 🔷🔹When Hussain ibn Ali heard Akbar's salaam he looked at Euphrates, where Abbas ibn Ali’s body was laying and with all his strength sapped by the anguish in Akbar's voice, Hussain ibn Ali began to walk towards the battlefield. When Hussain ibn Ali got to where Akbar lay he took him in his arms. Akbar had his right hand on the chest. in Akbar's chest. He placed his left arm over the shoulder of his father. Hussain said "Akbar, why do you embrace me with one arm only?" Akbar would not reply. Hussain tried to move Akbar's hand. Akbar resisted. Hussain ibn Ali gently moved the hand. Then he saw it! He saw the blade of the spear. Hussain ibn Ali laid Ali Akbar ibn Hussain on the ground and sitting on his knees he put both his hands on the blade of the spear. He pulled out the blade. Angel Gabriel cried out "Marhaba! Marhaba!" Akbar took a deep sigh and then laid still. ✨❤️ .
