Starting last week, we started my favorite part of English to teach... WRITING!!! Last year I used the “S.E.E.” method, but to be more cohesive as an ELA department, we are all using the “R.A.C.E.” method! ✏️ • • • • • I first gave them a pre-test about RACE writing and what they remember from last year. I then changed my topic for a pre-paragraph essay from “Do pineapples belong on pizza?” to “Is a hot dog a sandwich?” • • • • I only told them to use what they remember from RACE last year and gave them an article to get evidence from each side. I loved loved loved this. I feel like our department as a whole is becoming more cohesive which makes it SO MUCH easier to go from grade level to grade level. I can’t wait to see them take the post-test and compare their final project paragraphs to the pre-paragraph! The best feeling ever is not only myself seeing progress, but them seeing it right in front of their eyes without even realizing they are improving! 📝📝📝 • • • • • #middleschoolfollowloop#middleschoolteacherfollowloop#englishteacher#elateacher#middleschoolteacher#teachersfollowteachers#teachersofinstagram#collaborativeclassroom#studentbasedteaching#engagement#sundayteacherfunday7#teacherappreciationweek
