The Thousand Islands are a group of more than 1,800 islands in the St. Lawrence River, straddling the border of the U.S. and Canada. It’s home to elaborate island mansions such as the German-style Boldt Castle on Heart Island, and Singer Castle on Dark Island, with its Gothic windows and secret passageways. . . . . . #1000islands #island #islands #stlawrenceriver #boat #sailing #castle #architecture #gothic #ontario #canada #usa #newyork #ig_travel #travelphotography #weekend #travelgram #travel #roadtrip #igdaily #ig_canada #explore #adventure #travelphotography #traveling #instamood #summer #ig #traveler #weekendvibes #instadaily
┅ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ 🇬🇧The construction of the temple was initiated by Ptolemy VI Filometor (180-145 BC) at the beginning of his reign. It was extended by other Ptolemies, such as Ptolemy VIII and Ptolemy XII, which are represented in the inner and outer hypostyle rooms. Many parts of the temple have been destroyed by the action of the Nile, earthquakes, and even their stones were used for other later constructions. Some of the interior reliefs were disfigured by the Copts, who used the temple as a church. Did you know? Some of the three hundred mummy crocodiles discovered in the area are displayed in the so-called Crocodile Museum, located a few meters from the Temple. ┅ It is impressive Kom Ombo, its interior and exterior, and its magical location, on the banks of the Nile. What do you think? Do you find this Temple interesting? ┅ . . . . . #love #happy #picoftheday #nature #travel #trip #vacation #travelgram #instatravel #explore #adventure #travelphotography #traveling #roadtrip #travelblogger #traveller #passporttravel
┅ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ 🇬🇧The Temple of Kom Ombo is an unusual double temple built during the reign of the Ptolemaic Dynasty, in the Egyptian city of Kom Ombo. ┅ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ ✈︎ 🇬🇧The Aswan Dam is a mega-construction built between 1959 and 1970 by the Egyptian and Soviet governments, in order to end the floods that occurred in the territory of the lower Nile by the sudden increase in river flow. Two dams have been built in this area: the new Aswan High Dam, with 111 meters high and the smallest and oldest, Aswan Low Dam. Did you know? Its construction caused concern among archaeologists because dozens of temples would be submerged under water. In 1960, a rescue operation sponsored by Unesco located, excavated and moved twenty-four of these monuments to safer locations, or were donated to countries that collaborated in the rescue, such as the Temple of Debod to Madrid. ┅ I was surprised by this construction along with that of the Hoover Dam in Nevada.
