We’ve officially been fostering Mr. Jingles for ☝🏼week! — Do you know what to expect when getting a new dog? Here are a few tips for bringing a new dog home: 1. Prepare your home for the dog! Puppy or not, your new dog may not have great house manners yet, so puppy proof your home in advance to set them up for success from the start. 2. Give them time to adjust! Moving is stressful for anyone, so give the dog time to learn your routine and get comfortable in your household before taking them on outings and introducing them to new people. 3. Set expectations in advance! Make sure everyone understands their role in taking care of the new dog before bringing them home. Make sure any children understand how to safely and respectfully interact with the dog and set up a safe space just for the dog before they arrive. 4. Introduce current dogs on neutral territory! If you already have a dog at home, be sure to introduce them by having them meet at a park or down the street from your home, before moving into your yard and eventually your house. — Interested in becoming a foster? [Loppy’s mom here] We received sad news the other day that tiny little Luna tested positive for feline Leukemia. FeLV is a nasty virus that *can* dramatically shorten a cat’s lifespan. It also means that the infected cat cannot live with other non-infected cats. We are going through another round of testing as sometimes the initial positive test results can just indicate that her little body is fighting it off, and not infected. In the meantime while we’re going through the testing process, Luna will stay with us. Her wonderful adopter has cats of her own so FeLV is not something we can introduce into her home! She brought this little playpen over so Luna can hang out with us and still be safe from monsterchild Loppy. So sweet. It’s kind of working, but we haven’t managed to exorcise Loppy’s demons fully quite yet 🤦♀️. Anyway, keep sweet Luna in your thoughts. We should get the next round of test results on Wednesday. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

A certain iguana is quite pleased with the neighbor's decision to cut down all of the foliage in their backyard because now there are significantly fewer noisy birds flying around and more sunshine for basking. Unfortunately for him, the humans have invested in a bird feeder and are making an @ikeausa run for a patio umbrella.☂️
