Apparently I got #bookmail happy last week 🤣 I don’t even remember ordering all of these 😂😂 Two of these were recommendations from #bookstagram friends and the remaining three looked so interesting to me! I’m so grateful for this community that has helped me explore more books and stories!
There is no other theologian that has impacted my thoughts about Christianity more than Jacques Ellul. Maybe that makes me sound like a snob because most people have never heard of him, but seriously, he's the greatest. This particular book is my favorite that I've read of his and it was also the first I read. It focuses on what the Christian's role is in today's world. Ellul argues that Christians should be a force for good in the world, all the while realizing that their efforts will never really solve the world's problems, because only God can do that. He warns his readers that there is no one right answer for how the Christian is to live in the world. It's different based on time and place and culture. I like Ellul because he doesn't give answers. He doesn't try to make the world black and white. He recognizes the complexity of our world and the fact that this world is a mixture of good and evil and everything is tinged by that. Christ is the center of everything for him. This book is a little on the more academic side, though I will say this particular edition of this book is easier to read than the one I originally read in college. If you want to explore a unique way of looking at the Christian's place in the world, this book is a great starting point. #booksofinfluence#books#bookworm#reading#readingiscool#bookrecommendations#booksuggestions#favoritebooks#myfavorites#readingissmart#bookschangethings#theology#theologian#jacquesellul#christianlife#tension#christianposts#christianpost#goodreads#totalbooknerd
“And so the lion fell in love with the lamb…" he murmured. I looked away, hiding my eyes as I thrilled to the word. "What a stupid lamb," I sighed. "What a sick, masochistic lion.” •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• I got the box set of twilight at my work last week for 7 dollars. What a steal! I regret getting rid of my OG copies from when I was a pre teen. 😩
