JMUCC, also known as the John Molson Undergraduate Case Competition, is one of the largest competitions in the world 🌍 at the undergraduate level. Case competitions 📊, in a nutshell, are competitions where businesses give you problems and you have 3 hours to create a solution, read the case, create slides and present your solution in a 20 minute presentation to an esteemed panel of judges. It was also the reason why I became very good at public speaking. There are 3 main things that made me extremely good at this skill from this experience. 1. 💡Surrounded by the Best. For international competitions, students would fly out from different countries around the world to participate in these events. In my personal case, I've met students all the way from Sweden to Thailand and watched the best presenters in business take the stage on an international level and wanted to be like them. 2. 🎇A Powerful Accountability "Why" Club. When you're on a sports team ⛷️, your team rewards you for playing well at the sport whereas in this case comp club, you get the same type of reward, but for presenting really good slides 🎤 or being extremely good at public speaking so it's an incredible driver to stand out from your club and it was very motivating for me. 3. 💼Relentless Work Ethic. To be the best, you need to put in the work that no other school wants to put in. Because of that, out of the 40 case competitions I've personally done, I've practiced on average 10 times for each case, which means I've presented at least 400 times in my life. When you practice that much at such a high level of intensity, mastering your talk is just a byproduct of this environment. Special thanks to Mark Anthony, Mimi, and @jhiansharifi for looking dapper in this picture.

Are you in a visibility hidey hole right now? There can be all sorts of reasons why you aren’t showing up and sharing your powerful messages with the world. It can be equally frustrating and fear inducing to have a blocker in your head and a stopper in your mouth. I’m a speaker coach and I have had trouble with this of late! If you feel like you aren’t showing up in the way that is really going to help you be seen and heard try this... 🙈Give yourself the nudge . If you know deep down that you are avoiding showing up right now, take a minute to shine a light on it and find out what’s really going on. . 🙈What are you fearful of? What is really stopping you? Confidence? Clarity on what to say? The potential consequences of your visibility? . It doesn’t always have to take a huge wake up call to start shining a light on your awareness and making a choice to think or act differently. . What’s the biggest thing stopping you showing up and speaking up right now? . . #entrepreneur#visibility#femaleentrepreneur#inthespotlight#publicspeaking101#thoughtleader

Today's workshop at Mendaki! 😊 The objective of this program is to inculcate various aspects of the communication process to create a more loving, empathetic and inclusive society. Through role play and game based learning, we deliver the content in a way that adds meaning in the lives of the children and their families! 😊
Yesterday’s session with Horizon Primary School and it was about the breath and body language. Everything begins with the breath! . However, in order to make the learning real, the students started the session with a game based learning activity. This raises their heart rate and their bodies state mimics the state they will be in when nervous, anxious, etc. right before speaking. Then, through breathing exercises, they will calm and centre themselves. . The breathing exercises were then incorporated into the body language component of the lesson. This allowed them to develop timbre and power in their voice by building a connection between the breath and the body.
