THE FOUNDATIONS In every industry we all harp on about the “foundations”, maybe it is because we all want to end result NOW and don’t want to put in the process work to get there. I found this to be true not only with myself but clients as well. A fixation on getting “something fixed “ as fast as possible. Infant development movements such as this movement is a beautiful blend of “spinal strategy “ working together to integrate the whole body in a particular direction. This is where the “deep core” layers are actually being used and integrated. This is particularly evident as a baby beginning to observe its environment without the use of their limbs moves around. It’s centre of gravity is around it’s navel. I have found this strategy particularly useful for spinal rehabilitation stability. It does take time to retrain and become efficient but these types of movements are laying a solid foundation for the body to move much better in gravity. Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is a procedure used to reduce pain. An electrical current produced by a radio wave is used to heat up a small area of nerve tissue, thereby decreasing pain signals from that specific area. How is radiofrequency ablation done? You’ll lie on your stomach or back on an x-ray table. The doctor will numb an area of your skin with a local anesthetic. Then, he or she will: * Insert a thin needle into the area where you feel pain; an x-ray can help your doctor pinpoint the exact area * Insert a microelectrode through the needle; your doctor will ask if you feel a tingling sensation; this helps your doctor identify the right area for treatment * Send a small radiofrequency current through the electrode to heat your nerve tissue Which Conditions Are Treated With Radiofrequency Ablation? RFA can be used to help patients with chronic (long-lasting) low-back and neck pain and pain related to the degeneration of joints from arthritis that does not respond to other treatment, such as pain medication and physical therapy. How Long Does Pain Relief From Radiofrequency Ablation Last? The degree of pain relief varies, depending on the cause and location of the pain. Pain relief from RFA can last from six to 12 months and in some cases, relief can last for years. More than 70% of patients treated with RFA experience pain relief. Is Radiofrequency Ablation Safe? RFA has proven to be a safe and effective way to treat some forms of pain. It also is generally well-tolerated, with very few associated complications. There is a slight risk of infection and bleeding at the insertion site. What happens after the procedure? You can continue your regular diet and medications immediately, but do not drive or do any rigorous activity for 24 hours after the procedure. Take it easy. You can return to your normal activities the next day.
“Ever since I got my first job, I’ve had pain in my mid back. I switched chiropractors a couple times thinking that was the problem, but I mentioned to Bo at Harbor Life Chiropractic I thought I had bad posture and he recommended I see Rachel for a posture therapy consultation. . After my sixth posture therapy appointment, I couldn’t remember the last time my back hurt. I’m only twenty years old and I shouldn’t be having back problems already, so I feel super relieved. Working is much easier when my back doesn’t hurt halfway through my shift, especially when I’m standing for eight hours. . My favorite exercise is the hip crossover stretch. It’s on the floor and it aligns my back the way it’s supposed to be while stretching the muscles in my hips. It’s definitely one of the easier exercises Rachel has taught me. . If you think you’ve done everything to help the pain you’re having, try posture therapy! I thought I was out of options and I’m pretty young, so I didn’t know what to do, but it has helped me the most. No matter how old or how young, posture therapy can help you too.” -Kaitlyn (Chronic thoracic back pain and tightness) . . #testimonialtuesday#posturetherapy#chronicpain#functionalfitness#gigharborliving#tacoma#tacomabusiness#gigharborbusiness#painfree#painfreeliving#happyclient#workhard

If he wasn’t a baller before, he is now!! @kevkevbr23 has never missed an appointment and has never doubted the process and his xrays are proof of that. - Kevin is an amazing jujitsu competitor at @b1bjjfitness and came in for #neckpain and #backpain - He is now #painfree besides when he competes/fights (calling it fighting sounds cooler). - When you lose the curve in your neck, it pulls on the muscles in your upper back and neck, causing #headaches , #migraines , #upperbackstiffness , and so much more. When you get the curve back, it let’s the muscle relax and inhibits #discdegeneration ‼️ - I’m soooooo fortunate to have such an amazing patient and now friend. Keep up being awesome Kevin!! I’m so proud of you! - To schedule or if you have any questions, DM me or call 331-204-5048! ❤️Dr. Jess - NOTE: patient gave permission to post the xrays
⭐️STRETCH OF THE WEEK⭐️ The better hamstring stretch! Why better? Because it lets you keep your back straight, reducing the stress to the disks of your spine. Keep the leg straight, lean forward from your hips and you should feel a deep stretch in your hamstrings. It’s a great way to combat long hours of sitting... give it a try!
