From a favorite September in the past. Of all the seasons, I feel like fall is the most illusive. Like a mythical beast that might grace us with its colorful presence at any time, anywhere. Or then again, maybe not at all. I guess only time will tell! ☺️🍂🍁 - Photos: @everchanginghorizon
HAMPDENFEST 19: Today's Hi-Vo Stage Spotlight falls on @danylajandthelooks from Toronto! They'll be bringing their catchy-as-hell brand of power pop and a new album to Charm (pop) City THIS SATURDAY/ SEPT 21 and it's FREE. 11a-7p DANY LAJ AND THE LOOKS: Dany Laj and The Looks started in 2009, following a stint living back up in Northern Ontario, exploring his roots. Laj started by playing solo shows in small Toronto bars, building up his repertoire and garnering a small legion of fans. Later in 2010, he decided to add a backing group, giving more life to his songs; this led to a small record deal with Boppa Do Down Records, leading to the release of his first EP The Match in November of that year under their imprint. In 2011 he was joined by now life partner and leader of his band Jeanette Dowling; while the pair had been living on Toronto's then-hip Queen St West, the sudden closure of Hits & Misses — the punk record store located below and the building being vacated — the pair relocated to Montreal, subsequently releasing Telepathic Voices EP to critical acclaim, once again by Boppa Do Down. In 2015 came their first LP, Word On The Street, via Squirtgun Records, and the buzz was great enough to catch the ear of power pop legend Paul Collins (The Nerves, The Beat) who invited them to join forces with him on the road, enjoying a successful North American tour. Power pop troubadour Dany Laj & The Looks left a trail of travel markers when it came to making this, their seventh and latest release, Everything New is New Again — available September 13th. . . . #powerpop#garagerock#baltimore#toronto#streetfest#freemusicfest#freefest#hampden#hampdenfest19#hampdenfest#ohcanada

JASPER - This week on We3Travel.com I’m sharing some blog posts about our time in Jasper National Park this summer. We loved our four days in Jasper because it is much less crowded than Banff but every bit as beautiful. One of our favorite activities was the boat cruise on Maligne Lake out to Spirit Island. You may have seen pictures of this special place, as it has been used in advertising since Kodak first put it on the map with an ad campaign in the 1960s. Maligne Lake is 14 miles long so the easiest way to reach the island is by boat. I was sad to see that the blight caused by the mountain pine beetle that has impacted nearly half of the pine trees in Jasper National Park has also reached the few pines on Spirit Island. While now all the reddish brown pine trees make the mountains look like they are draped in fall colors, they are actually dead or dying and may all fall down within the next few years. The government hasn’t wanted to intervene with nature, and the forest will regenerate, but it is hard to imagine these forests with only half the trees in the foreseeable future. It is all another result of climate change, as warmer winters have allowed the pine beetle to survive in higher elevations. It is a huge debate on whether to allow forest fires to burn or extinguish them. By extinguishing them, the forest become denser and older, which accelerates the spread of the beetle. It is really pretty fascinating the science you learn through travel. And to think at first we just thought the trees looked pretty at a distance but after noticing they were pines, we asked about the cause. #travelalberta#jaspernationalpark#myjasper#venturebeyond#spiritisland#malignelake#jasper#travelwithmoon#moonguides
Sometimes you need a place where you can get away, be fully present, and just enjoy the beauty around you with good company. We did just that during our getaway to @tourismequebec where we visited the @tourismelaurentides @tourismeat , and @outaouais. The reception was spotty, which actually worked out better to fully immerse ourselves in the experience. And who wouldn't want to be fully immersed while exploring enchanting tree houses or maybe an opportunity to sleep with the wolves?
