Weird past 24 hours emotionaly, while I'm excited about what the future may hold for the team with Jones as QB1 and I feel it was the right move, it's still bittersweet. Eli has been "the guy" since 2004. He has helped deliver 2 Super Bowls, and about 1000x more gray hairs to my head.😂 I've cursed his name and sung his praises. Lost tons of followers when I was critical of him, and probably just as many when I defended him. I will always be appreciative of his contributions and his legacy. The best QB the Giants have ever had, a 1st ballot HOFer in my mind and an all around class act. If this is truly the end of the road for Eli, all I can say is....Thank you for everything #10.
The Daniel Jones Era is officially underway in NY. But Jones Genesis marks the end of a long era led by Eli Manning. Say what you will about him, but he should be in the HOF & he came to play when it mattered most, winning 2 SB’s. So now for the Giants, they are paying Eli Manning $17 million dollars to mentor Daniel Jones. I am not overlooking the value of a QB mentor but for $17 million the Giants would have been way better off cutting Eli and using that money to find a veteran stopgap QB or filling the roster out better to help a young QB. As for Daniel Jones, there has been very little I've seen that makes me think he'll be a #6 overall pick caliber QB. You can point to his preseason play but that's a very knee jerk reaction to games that don't mean all that much. I see Daniel Jones in the Mitchell Trubisky type mold as he will be alright from time to time but he'll do very little to elevate your roster. But that is just my prediction and I'll be the first to admit my mistake if I'm wrong. I just hope for the sake of Saquon Barkley that DJ is the QB they drafted him to be.
