Do you really need to eat BREAKFAST? 🍳🥞⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ No, but it’ll probably improve your day if you do.⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Some people just aren’t hungry in the morning. If that’s you, that’s okay! There is nothing wrong with you. You’re allowed to listen to your own hunger cues and establish your own meal timing. But, I’d encourage you to ask yourself a few questions:⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🧠 Do I feel 100% focused and sharp during my workday?⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🥵 Am I ravenously hungry by lunchtime?⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🍪 Are my cravings hard to control at nighttime?⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you answered ‘yes’ to any of those questions, breakfast could help! Starting your day with some fiber and protein helps manage your hunger, energy, and mood.⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I put together a roundup of my FAVE GRAB-AND-GO BREAKFAST ideas and you can find it on my blog! (Click the link in my bio or visit: chelseadishes.com/easy-grab-and-go-breakfast-ideas/)⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ One of my faves from the list are these high-fiber cinnamon raisin oat muffins 😍 (there needs to be a muffin emoji...)⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Grab-and-go breakfasts are perfect for anyone who likes to sleep in as much as I do 😂 I’m NOT a morning person so I need breakfast as quickly as possible in the am or it ain’t happening 🙅🏼♀️⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you ARE a morning person (first of all, jealous of you) you can still benefit from a grab-and-go or make-ahead breakfast. Less time spent cooking in the morning = more time to enjoy other things! (Get ahead on those emails, squeeze in a workout, spend more time on your hair, meditate, hug your dog, whatever! 😂)⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🤔 I’m dying to know, are you a morning person or non-morning person like me?
One of the many downsides to our society wearing exhaustion as accomplishment badges (a topic for another post, am I right?!?!)... is the bad nutrition habits that happen when we’re too busy with adulting, momming, working late.(add your own reason) What’s something sneaky in a busy life that will sabotage your fitness goals even if you’re working out?? The wrong snacks. 🙊 Notice I didn’t say snacks in general?!?! I LOVE ME SOME chips & salsa. We just have to be balanced because you can’t out-train a BAD DIET. What does this mean? We just have to taste the rainbow. Keep it colorful! Cravings happen when our bodies are missing a vital nutrient and they start trying to alert us. Don’t hesitate to reach for color (bell peppers, carrots, celery, cucumber... ) because it means NUTRIENTS! And go ahead… dip it in guac or your favorite dip. Cause life wouldn’t be the same without it. 🥑🥑🥑 Whats your go-to, reach for it because its comforting snack??
There’s a major problem with how most people think about food… . Follow us!! 👉🏻 @active_weightlossfor Free Daily Weight Loss Tips and much much more!! 🙏💪 .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Most peeps think of foods as being either “GOOD” or “BAD.” ⠀ ✅ GOOD ✅: Apples 🍏, salad 🥗, avocados 🥑 ⠀ ❌ BAD ❌: Chocolate 🍫, cookies 🍪, cake 🍰 ⠀ The Truth: ⠀ Few things in life are purely black & white. Our food choices are no exception! ⠀ Plus, there's no one-size-fits-all definition for the terms "good food" and "bad food"... ⠀ For example, folks following a vegan diet vs. a paleo diet are going to have different views on the healthiness of certain foods like meat 🍖, nuts 🥜, and whole grains 🍞. ⠀ Even despite both being considered "healthy" approaches in the mainstream. ⠀ What’s more, there's also the fact that some people have allergies & intolerance towards certain foods 🐮🙅… ⠀ For some, high-quality dairy can provide a ton of health benefits. The same wouldn’t be true for someone with a dairy allergy or intolerance, obviously. ⠀ And a cookie 🍪 (often thought of as being a “bad" food) may have fewer micronutrients per calorie than an apple 🍎… ⠀ But(t🍑) that doesn't at all make the cookie unhealthy! ⠀ It's totes okay to have a cookie every once in a while if you're eating plenty of "more nutritious" foods too 🍎❤️🍪 ⠀ THE BOTTOM LINE: ⠀ There are no universally "good" or "bad" foods, so let's stop labeling them that way... mmkay? ⠀ Instead, let's start thinking about foods the RIGHT way 👇 ⠀ Not “good” or “bad”… ❌ But as “more & less nutritious.” ✅ ⠀ And one more thing... ⠀ Let’s focus less on what other people tell us to eat and, instead, educate ourselves 📚 and choose foods that makes us feel good physically & mentally on an individual basis 💪🙂 Credit @cartergood #foodchoices#goodfood#healthiness#vegandiet#paleodiet
Veggie bowl from Cava! I added lentils to my bowl for the first time yesterday and I loved the taste. Lentils are great for boosting metabolism and helping your body burn fat. Thus, lentils are a great addition to your meal when trying to add a healthy grain!
I’m finally getting everything cleaned up from the party and using up the leftovers. I had made veggie sticks and pink hummus for the kids and as you might imagine, they ate more cupcakes than veggies. So with all of the extra veggies I used to make a slow cooked chicken last night. So easy and such a good way to use up the extra food so it doesn’t go to waste. I tossed it all in with some water and salt and pepper and that’s it. I use the broth for so many recipes. Healthy for kids and mamas too. The bone broth is very helpful for collagen growth, gut health and extra protein.
Retreat in Mykonos Had a blast cooking for guest of @navahausretreats for these past few days in Mykonos. I was lucky enough to have a great sous chef @michonvanas who helped shop from local suppliers and then prepare colourful dishes using local and seasonal ingredients. This was lunch/brunch on the third day featuring: grilled local fish (don’t ask me what it’s called) on tabbouleh, lean meatballs with tahini and zhoug, shakshuka, cucumber salad with urfa chilli and poppy seeds etc.. Healthy balanced meal on a sunny day ☀️ #retreatchef#mykonos#retreat#fitfood 📸 by @cubanosoy
Nuts and seeds offer a simple and tasty way to snack and to support your overall heath. Nevertheless, the true benefits depend on how nuts and seeds are prepared. We slow roast our nuts and seeds on a low temperature to protect their nutrients and naturally occurring heart healthy fats. Most commercial nuts are roasted on high temperatures, and usually with added oils. Roasting nuts at these temperatures brings out the flavor, but it can also damage the healthy fats, making them no longer beneficial and potentially harmful. Nutrients are also lost at higher temperatures and antioxidant activity is decreased. In order to enjoy the full array of nutrition nuts and seeds offer, be choosy about the ones you consume. Raw nuts are a better option, but they can be difficult to digest causing bloating and even nausea. We’ll be back later this week to explain why we soak our nuts and seeds for 24 hours before we slow roast them (hint hint: easer to digest). . . . . . #plantbasednutrition#nutritiousfood#wholefoodplantbased#plantbasedprotein#healthysnacking#proteinsnack#healthyfood#healthypeople#organicfood#madeinbend#bendoregon#makelocalhabit#healthybend#inbend

Happy #toasttuesday y’all 🤗🤤 I’ve been a little MIA lately because this semester is starting to get hectic and I’m STILL in denial school started 😂 balancing work, school (and somewhat of a social life 😅) gets soooo crazy!! The hardest part is not being able to spend as much time in the kitchen as I’d like to. This morning called for my fave toast combo 🤗💕 @traderjoes mixed nut butter on both, peach slices on one and banana slices on the other. I topped both with @purely_elizabeth ancient granola, shredded coconut, flax seeds, and cinnamon! 😋 I could honestly eat this everyyyyday!! I hope y’all are having an awesome Tuesday 💛💜 #toastlikerobin
