I did my Tuesday morning walk at the mall today since it was raining. I like the indoor walk but its not as good of a workout since there are no hills. It’s nice to have this option so close by, though, for poor weather days! I like being part of the thriving, elderly walking group community! 😂😉. Breakfast was my usual three sausages eaten hastily while running out the door and lunch was a shrimp stir fry with no rice but extra veggies. Not enough calories so I’m going to have a lunch part two of sweet potatoes in a bit. One of the many downsides to our society wearing exhaustion as accomplishment badges (a topic for another post, am I right?!?!)... is the bad nutrition habits that happen when we’re too busy with adulting,  momming, working late.(add your own reason)  What’s something sneaky in a busy life that will sabotage your fitness goals even if you’re working out?? The wrong snacks. 🙊  Notice I didn’t say snacks in general?!?! I LOVE ME SOME chips & salsa. We just have to be balanced because you can’t out-train a BAD DIET.  What does this mean?  We just have to taste the rainbow.  Keep it colorful! Cravings happen when our bodies are missing a vital nutrient and they start trying to alert us.  Don’t hesitate to reach for color (bell peppers, carrots, celery, cucumber... ) because it means NUTRIENTS!  And go ahead… dip it in guac or your favorite dip. Cause life wouldn’t be the same without it. 🥑🥑🥑 Whats your go-to,  reach for it because its comforting snack??

Our food choices are no exception! ⠀ Plus, there's no one-size-fits-all definition for the terms "good food" and "bad food"... ⠀ For example, folks following a vegan diet vs. a paleo diet are going to have different views on the healthiness of certain foods like meat 🍖, nuts 🥜, and whole grains 🍞. ⠀ Even despite both being considered "healthy" approaches in the mainstream. ⠀  What’s more, there's also the fact that some people have allergies & intolerance towards certain foods 🐮🙅… ⠀ For some, high-quality dairy can provide a ton of health benefits. I’m finally getting everything cleaned up from the party and using up the leftovers. I had made veggie sticks and pink hummus for the kids and as you might imagine, they ate more cupcakes than veggies. So with all of the extra veggies I used to make a slow cooked chicken last night. So easy and such a good way to use up the extra food so it doesn’t go to waste. I tossed it all in with some water and salt and pepper and that’s it. I use the broth for so many recipes. Healthy for kids and mamas too. The bone broth is very helpful for collagen growth, gut health and extra protein.
***HOMEMADE LENTIL SOUP*** My lentil soup recipe is delicious on cold, dark, winter nights 😍  Ingredients (serves 3): 175g Red Split Lentils 2 Large Sweet Potatoes 1 Large Onion 2 Carrots 3 Knotr Vegetable Stock Pots 2 Garlic Gloves 1 tsp Thyme Desired amount of Salt and Pepper  Instructions: 1. Add red split lentil to large pan then soak in water 2. Peel sweet potatoes, carrots and onions then dice in to pieces 3. Boil kettle, then rinse water from lentils, add boiling water to pan about 3/4 full 4. Add sweet potato, onion, carrots and stock pots to pan 5. Crush garlic then add to pan along with thyme and desired amount of salt and pepper 6. Retreat in Mykonos  Had a blast cooking for guest of @navahausretreats for these past few days in Mykonos.  I was lucky enough to have a great sous chef @michonvanas who helped shop from local suppliers and then prepare colourful dishes using local and seasonal ingredients.  This was lunch/brunch on the third day featuring: grilled local fish (don’t ask me what it’s called) on tabbouleh, lean meatballs with tahini and zhoug, shakshuka, cucumber salad with urfa chilli and poppy seeds etc.. Nuts and seeds offer a simple and tasty way to snack and to support your overall heath. Nevertheless, the true benefits depend on how nuts and seeds are prepared. We slow roast our nuts and seeds on a low temperature to protect their nutrients and naturally occurring heart healthy fats. Most commercial nuts are roasted on high temperatures, and usually with added oils. Roasting nuts at these temperatures brings out the flavor, but it can also damage the healthy fats, making them no longer beneficial and potentially harmful. Nutrients are also lost at higher temperatures and antioxidant activity is decreased. In order to enjoy the full array of nutrition nuts and seeds offer, be choosy about the ones you consume. Raw nuts are a better option, but they can be difficult to digest causing bloating and even nausea. Homegrown Baked Fig and Goats Cheese salad 😍⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ To bake the figs I cut them into quarters but leaving bottom area connected, stuffed with soft goats cheese and drizzled with honey and broken walnuts and baked in fan oven at 160 degrees for 10 - 15 mins ✨ ⁣⁣ ⁣ 🌏 We have chicken only once a week and buy a whole organic or free range chicken from the butchers to ensure welfare of the animal. There are so many factors that will put you down emotionally- Work, People, Negative Thoughts, Situations .
