This one jumps and runs, making a playground out if everything. Shes super active, until we say that we are hiking...then she says she cant do it. Somehow 5 min into it shes running ahead, sliding down logs or jumping onto boulders. I think the word "hike" means work for her....when really shes doing way more than just walking by us.
From 10,000 ft Clouds Rest is an arete, a thin, almost knife-like, ridge of rock formed when glaciers eroded away solid rock to form Tenaya Canyon and Little Yosemite Valley. It was so exposed, yet extremely liberating for me 💙
Traveling with family makes it difficult to shoot the way I want due to time constraints, but I’m making the best I can of every moment! Got lucky with some dramatic storm clouds in the sky as we passed Wild Goose Island- was able to create this photo really quick!
I got to the Grand Canyon (North Rim) at sunrise, and couldn’t stop uttering exclamations! I snapped this quick iPhone photo at a stop on the way to the Cape Royal picnic area. Took TONS of pics there and at Walhalla Overlook, to be processed and posted at various times throughout the rest of the year. I have to say, I LOVE OUR NATIONAL PARKS. To have easy access to such amazing places is a gift!
Unfortunately, this beautiful pool has fallen victim to vandalism. People have thrown coins, trash, rocks and logs into the pool. Much of the debris subsequently became embedded in the sides and vent of the spring, affecting water circulation and accelerating the loss of thermal energy. Through the years Morning Glory's appearance has changed as its temperature dropped.
Just over two weeks left until our Fall 2019 cohort heads out to @glaciernps for their month-long sabbaticals, where they will work on projects supporting @glacierconservancy! We cannot wait to watch the season change in this spectacular place, especially as the larch trees turn gold and wildlife get ready for winter 🌲🍂 .
