When I first started my fitness journey three years ago, up until now I was consistently doing a full body workout twice a week (only recently making it three days since February). . This really helped to kickstart my journey as at the time I had no clue where to even begin as there was just tons and tons of information on the internet which left me with a lot of unsolved questions and just confused me to the point where my head was spinning 🤯. As a result of doing this routine, I was able to develop some strength and build a bit of muscle (at least I think I have 🤷🏾♂️) as I bulk up (and still continuing to do so 😅). . However, up until recently I have been getting bored of it and felt like I wasn’t pushing myself hard enough as I wasn’t as motivated as I was a year or two ago. . Now I am psyched to try a new routine - I have switched to a push/pull/leg split and will see how this works over the next year or two - really looking forward to it 😤 . Here is my push session: Bench press Incline press (doing this for the first time) Cable flys Skull Crushers Cable Dips Cable Extensions (doing this for the first time) . I like to get up early and get my workout done,it sets me up for the day ahead and puts me in that good head space.This mornings hiit cardio was a sweaty one for sure and im feeling ready for the day ahead! when do you do your workouts?
Yesterday it became clear to me again why I get up this little bit earlier before work to press play in our living room and and exercise instead of sleeping until the last possible minute. It’s because when I don’t, I’m simply not at my best. My head is not as switched on, and I feel sluggish. Yesterday I did stay in bed as long as I possibly could, and I paid for it. Work felt sooo much harder. Right now I’m in a state, where I’m trying to connect all the things that have to be done and that I want to be done. And what I find is that it’s important not to put too much weight on one thing, because then it takes energy away from another. When I exercise, I don’t have any crazy fitness goals, I just want a physical challenge that isn’t longer than 30 minutes, but still gives me a well rounded workout. Time is a huge thing for me, because that’s what I have the least off, and it has to be cheap, because money is no abundance in our house either. I always thought I had no time to workout at home, especially at my most productive time of first thing in the morning for fear of waking the girls even earlier than they normally get up. I only managed 20 minutes but it's 20 more minutes than if I'd stayed in bed. Thanks @sarajellypt for the motivation. My anxious mind expected to be running round like a headless chicken but in fact with planning and preparation the night before I have, in fact, manage to workout, shower and style my hair, feed the girls and myself a yummy breakfast, get them ready (with time for tv too) prepare dinner for tonight, peg washing out, reload the washing machine and of course have head space to write this post.
