Lifting weights ladies does not make you look manly. ・・・ Don’t let the fear of hard work stand in the way of the body you should be walking around with at this very moment. Rise up and take the challenge. Are you afraid that “it” won’t work? Or are you afraid that “you” won’t work? To guarantee your transformation, you will have to work. Your fear shouldn’t be whether it works or if it doesn’t. You fear should – and does – lie in whether or not you will work hard, persevere, and stay disciplined. #mondaymotivation#motivationmonday
When embarking on a new journey the first thing you need is community. Two and half years ago when #thebigletdown first came out, I had the honor to speak to the employees of Google at the Mountain View campus. This Queen right here @suezette, a DNI rockstar at Google-- who did not know me from a can of paint! was gracious enough to host and moderate the session in the name of sisterhood. Fast forward. Ever since I conceived @theirthapp and began working in earnest on making it a reality, I have been looking to find a new community of women/women of color/black women in tech. So when I saw Suezette in JAMAICA at our mutual friend's wedding, I said THANK YOU GOD! As always, Suezette was generous and open, sharing ideas even though we were both technically on vacation! And I was basically talking about work on HER vacation (Me. I do that all the time. #workinprogress) Excited about the road ahead. And grateful for all the women who continue to support me (and I, them) along the way. Community is everything! #mondaymotivation#blackwomenintech#femtechs#maternalhealth#newjourney#community

On my way to @theyardpeckham And I bumped into myself 🤷🏼♀️ #fitnessmodel for real!!! I was gonna say "feel free to come and draw me some underarm hair" but actually it'd be nice if we could refrain from vandalizing @larsstephanista 's beautiful work 😊🙏
Good Morning, In yesterday's class we had a group discussion about "mental blocks" while trying to increase our health/loose fat/get in shape. Some of the blocks that were brought to the table were; 1. One bite wont hurt. (Of course it wont but how many of us stick to one bite) 2. I will workout later (in the process of procrastinating the workout quickly becomes something we dread or another thing to do and so we dont do it) 3. I am too tired, I have too much to do. (a workout will provide us more energy than 5 shots of espresso would, it circulates blood and oxygen through the body.....also, if we don't make time we are never going to have it. It's not like the time fairy comes to our door and gives us an extra hour) Here's the BIGGEST BIGGIE that I hear 4. "The mornings start off good but, I cant stop eating at night" OKAY.... This brings me to one of my favorite units of measure OPTIMAL vs. LESS OPTIMAL Is it better to avoid sweets at night? Of course it is. HOWEVER, if it is a block you hit each night you are doing yourself no service by reminding yourself each night that you shouldnt do it and then do it anyway only to wake up the next morning feeling defeated.....it's better to assess the block and figure out how to approach it in a different way. clearly something isnt working..... This is where OPTIMAL vs. LESS OPTIMAL comes in... If you are continuing to eat oreos every night then lets try moving in baby steps toward avoiding night snacking. The first step I would recommend would be having a more optimal snack that would still satisfy your sweet craving but not trigger a landslide or a tidal wave of feeling defeated. Try making one of these recipes listed below. Making this simple change will help you to wake up the next day feeling a bit more hopeful and will encourage you do take another more optimal step toward reaching your goal instead of running around the same hamster wheel day after day.
