Accommodating resistance  The use of bands or chains to increase max strength, power, speed, etc.  Low Force! High Velocity  In the first videos, I performed a set of dynamic effort bench press (9 sets of 3 reps) with 55% of my maximum to accumulate volume while continuously increasing acceleration throughout each set.  High Force! Low Velocity!  The last video, I’m hitting a heavy load at 235 (85%) with 80lb of chains at the top. Throughout my lift the weight incrementally increasing throughout the concentric portion and decreases throughout the eccentric portion. This allows be to train at a supra-maximal state. We could throw all the various treatment at it - dry needling, heat, soft tissue and trigger point massage, mobilisation with movement, lateral or medial glides, splint, tennis elbow strap and the list goes on.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ But if the cause of your symptoms remains, all of the above will likely have very little effect. If the reason for your symptoms is the way you pick something up at work and you continue to do this, chances are things will take a long time to get better.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Even though it can be frustrating to avoid a certain task in your work, sport or home life - taking the advice of your therapist and modifying your activities can have a positive effect on your rehab 👍🏼⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 📸 @metatherapy

What is fascia you ask? Fascia is the head-to-toe connective tissue that runs throughout the entire body. The fascia encompasses all the body’s internal structures - connecting everything together, even penetrating the muscles, organs and fatty tissues, and connecting bones to muscles and organs to each other. This is a tissue that many of us are unfamiliar with but it is literally holding us together! 😯⁣⁠ ⁣⁠ Fascia can often become tight and constricted which causes pain - called myo (muscle) fascial (covering) pain. Myofascial therapy (through massage) is the best way to release this kind of pain! It's a safe and effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into myofascial restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. But if this is the only position you are able to fall asleep in, then try placing a firm pillow between your knees. This raises the upper leg and restores the natural alignment of the hips, which reduces back strains.

Long Spine! Kieran is coming from a GAA background & uses Pilates as part of his fitness regime mainly for flexibility & mobility work. In the Long Spine exercise the straps take the hamstrings into an active stretch & the abdominals & obliques are firing to lift the pelvis away from the carriage. Glutes are activating to keep the legs upright while control and strength is needed for articulation of the spine back to the carriage.
