🌿 The Amazon is the world’s largest tropical rainforest. . 🍃 More than 20% of the world’s oxygen is produced by the Amazon. . 🐛 The Amazon has an incredibly rich ecosystem – there are around 40,000 plant species, 1,300 bird species, 3,000 types of fish, 430 mammals and a whopping 2.5 million different insects. . 🧡 Around 400-500 indigenous Amerindian tribes call the Amazon rainforest home. . 🔥 Right now, all of this is in serious danger, the Amazon is burning. . 🔥 Wildfires often occur in the dry season but starting a fire is the work of humans, either deliberately to illegally deforest land for cattle ranching or by accident. . 🤓 The current political power is encouraging human action that is destroying the Amazon rainforest for immediate profit. Lungs of the Earth up in flames. Truly sad the Amazon rainforest has been burning for weeks and we’re just now hearing about it. Our hearts are with the indigenous people and all of those affected in Brazil.
