A @sidecardoughnuts fluffernutter & huckleberry jelly tasting experience shared through a series of uncensored photos. ⠀ ⠀ The answer is yes, it's delicious, in fact, it's mad as hops delicious. The Queen would order multiple platters, no, horse drawn carriages filled with these doughnuts to be brought to the royal banquets. My sauce-box 👅 was more jitty than a teenager at a Taylor Swift concert, with each bite bringing me closer to meet TaySwift, my heart pumping with adrenaline (metaphorically speaking). ⠀ ⠀ The fresh warmth of the doughnut especially made the experience. The peanut butter glaze was perfection. I felt the chef understood the importance of texture and flavor of a perfect peanut butter glaze, and applying the perfect amount to the doughnut to not put the customer into a peanut butter coma. Add in hand-crushed huckleberry jam, fresh warm marshmallow meringue (soft as whip cream), roasted peanuts, and wildflower honey...you've got yourself a doughnut that will make any PB & J lover sell their personal collection of *insert nerdy items* for just a bite. ⠀ ⠀ Sidecar, you make me cry tears of joy, I hope you know that.

Why not ? ——— That’s what I asked myself when I filled out the application. “Why not ? Why not just try ?” It was for something called the Abrams Dinner Party, sponsored by Abrams, publishers of a stunning array of books from children’s lit to food and drink and everything in between. A few of their most easily reached titles in my kitchen are stacked here (don’t tell my husband there are more...). I love how unique each volume is, reflecting the latitude and longitude of each author—there’s nothing formulaic about these narratives. They rise and fall, twist and turn all by their own hand. I should probably note here that I read cookbooks like novels and live for the stories as much as I do for the recipes. And the photographs. I love that cookbooks have become more visual over time. I think sometimes the photos lend a cook courage to give something a try when words alone might not be strong enough to push through fears or doubts. ——— And when you do push through, you see that all those doubts and fears were no stronger than a thin sheet of paper. Life is so much richer and delicious on the other side. I’m glad I pushed through and now get to present to you Abrams 2019-2020 season of their food and drink collection. Such a thrill to be a very (very) small part these books’ lives. ——— Everything starts with that tiny moment. That small voice that slowly rises up and asks “why not ?” What little “why not ?” is inside of you ?
The little adventures are the ones you will always remember. It's been so much fun taking little photography trips to document what we do while having loads of fun. Never stop enjoying the little moments.
