The Fall Parade of Homes (#siouxempireparadeofhomes) continues this weekend. Looking back at our favorite feature of our award winner from last Spring. The 'Speakeasy' basement bar is meant to he a hidden gem ... a place to relax, entertain, and serve strong drinks! It was so fun seeing and hearing people's reactions to the space. What "theme" would you want for your home bar? (Dreaming up ideas for the next twin home that we are building next door). 😉
Thanks for the ❤️ @arkievintageboutique • •• ••• “Meet Kelcey! Kelcey graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in Int’l Business- B.S. in Business/Marketing and a B.A. in International Studies/Spanish. After working in the corporate world, she decided to pursue a lifelong passion and attended seminary, receiving a Masters in Christian Education. For almost a decade, Kelcey was a teacher that adored her beloved students and they fondly called her “Mrs.G”. Kelcey and her husband eventually pursued another passion- traveling the world and living in a new culture. In 2013, they moved to Germany determined to embrace the German way of life! It was during this time of living, working and traveling throughout Europe that she developed a deep love for the decorative arts- whether antiques, interiors, architecture, painting or the history of design. Kelcey is fluent in German and gave birth to their first child, Theo, while abroad. After almost 5 years of expat life, Kelcey returned to the U.S. and became a stay at home mom. At that time, she began to dream of combining all of her passions and past experiences into a job… and Theo Nouveau Vintage was born! She loves learning about how certain antique pieces connect to the history, culture and style of their time. The heartbeat of Theo Nouveau Vintage is eclectic maximalism with an international flare! Iris Apfel famously said, “More is more and less is a bore," and Kelcey is on that Iris train. She is drawn to beautiful and funky pieces from all stylistic periods- Victorian, Arts and Crafts, Art Deco, MCM, Hollywood Glam, Bohemian and her personal favorite, Art Nouveau! She gravitates towards original art, old literature, unique period furniture, textiles and just plain funky things. Overall, Kelcey strives to curate high-quality vintage pieces that customers will feel a strong connection to- whether through nostalgia, aesthetics, uniqueness or functionality. One of her biggest
I mentioned in my story a couple days ago that I have a problem “catching and releasing” items I’ve been finding. I usually have pretty good self control but not lately... This hand painted mirror is so beautiful with details of gold leaf. As I was getting ready to list it, the mixed feelings begin as soon as I hang it 😩 Feel free to take it away from me since I have no self control.
