Smoked pork belly from @restaurant_gaa in Bangkok. Loved this and the rest of this amazing meal. The dishes at Gaa were impeccable and actually made me think of @nnakarestaurant. I remember having king crab at n/naka and thinking, "I've had king crab before but never like THIS" and there were similar moments like that at Gaa, such as with the young corn dish. I am still honestly in awe that corn can be that incredible. Wow. 🌽❤️ I put everything I ate in my recap story. I had way too much fun making this recap, enjoy! 🙂

It's the end of a culinary era with the number 4 restaurant in the world Gaggan closing after nearly a decade. When I first visited Gaggan last year, I was honestly a bit disillusioned at the time with Michelin stars or restaurants with high rankings. While some do deserve it, there were some restaurants that had left me disappointed. So when I got to try Gaggan, it made me incredibly happy. Here was food that was playful, innovative, and pure fun. I didn't know what to expect and was left delighted by it all. I put a recap of my 2018 visit on my story so you can see what I mean. And while it may be the end for old Gaggan, it's a new beginning as @gaggan_anand will be opening up a new restaurant in October. Can't wait to see what he'll do next in the culinary world. 🙌

In Bangkok and got to hit up Gaggan one last time before it officially closes in two weeks. The first time I went, I wasn't sure what to expect. I've been to other restaurants with Michelin stars and lots of accolades where I left thinking that it was alright. But when I went to Gaggan, I absolutely loved it. When I first watched Gaggan on Chef's Table, there were tears. I was moved by @gaggan_anand's story, his passion, and what he's doing for Indian cuisine. His story was reminiscent as we both came from poverty and had to work extremely hard to get out of it. He reminded me of the times as a child when I went days without food but how now, I never have to worry about having enough to eat. I am so thankful.
