Classic peninsula kitchen design. ⠀ Our team at in-toto Southport are currently working on this kitchen project in our in-toto Classic wood shaker range. The sand-beige finish blends in well with the Corian Sahara worktops. The peninsula is fitted with accessible units on both sides providing plenty of storage space.⠀ View our in-toto Classic range here: https://buff.ly/2mmIqYB⠀ ⠀
A home renovation is an exciting new beginning, but also an end worth honoring. . I delayed demolition by a week so that my son could return from camp to the house he grew up in. It feels like the end of an era, in a way. . Shaker Beige is the paint color that we chose and were so thrilled with when we first moved from NYC over a decade ago. . I walked and bopped my son as a baby around that dining room five million times singing Bob Marley- “everything’s gonna be alright, everything’s gonna be ok...” as he fought respiratory issues. . My daughter says “she loves her house” and while I know she will love the redesign too, the ponies and Barbies won’t sit on the ledge of our three-sided fireplace anymore. . The old Philco radio stands along the back wall- if it could speak, it would say, “we’re finally doing this, huh?” Philco has lived with me since I was an editorial assistant living in Queens with a roommate. He stays. . My husband just loves me enough to continue commuter life through renovation living hell. This emotional journey perhaps does not apply to him. The man would have happily lived with mint green Formica for the rest of his days. 😂 So mad love for that guy. ❤️ . This photo will be one of the ones our grown kids will look at and say, “Remember when our house used to look like that?” This process includes finding peace with that. . What’s your interiors story? What does your house say about the life you’ve lived in it? I’d love to hear! . . . #themomrenovation#homerenovating#homereno#newbeginning#thisoldhouse#memoriesinthemaking#minimalisthome#intentionaldecor#childhoodmemories#ourdesignstory#designstory#historyofus#beforetheafter#earlyparenthooddays#thingsthatremain#interiorstories#interiorswriter
Could Rapallo look any prettier right now? We took a walk through the town to hunt down some focaccia and ‘torta gelato’ - ice cream cake, and found ourselves distracted by this beautiful installation. #rapallocity#rapallo#travel#architecture
"Ian don't step on that rotten board." Ian steps on board. "Ian please don't step on that rotten board!" Board cracks when he does it again. He's shocked. "The board cracked!" "Yes of course it did." I had to cover it with a mat. I started building this deck about 15 years ago when I owned this house. It was cedar, a gift from a then boyfriend. The stairs were added later by Ian's father when HE bought the house back. He died three years ago, and the house has hung around in the Estate ever since with Ian as Executor. It is one of four homes on our private laneway, but to us just always "Loon Lane". When my house sold unexpectedly in June Ian pitched me the idea of buying it. I thought about it but really it's just too much for one person. What we have settled on is that I will live here until next Spring and make the repairs and updates needed to sell it next year. One of the first projects being this back deck. 🔨👷♀️ #loonlane#porterslake#easternshore#novascotia#cottagecountry#lakeliving#homereno#houseprojects#diy#finishwhatistarted
Details matter! This hammered steel prep/bar sink adds a new texture to the kitchen island, creating contrast with the polished chrome faucet, which in turn offers a bright contrast against the brushed stainless steel backsplash tile.
The lighting is early morning so the quality is a bit grainy and uneven, but this our "after". The left side was done almost a year ago. The right, finally done last night. (Having to take the TV down was why we delayed. But it ended up going easier than the left side.) . . . It is very hard to see the true color unless you're in person. It's a grey-tint blue. Not too bright. It makes our space seem bigger and allows the fireplace to pop. We are utterly exhausted [see my feet in the shot because I didn't want to move from the couch] from all we did yesterday, but we are so happy it's finished. Makes us motivated for our next projects. . . . We also did a chalkboard section in our hallway from our end cabinet. We used a spray paint and we'll see how that holds up. I've been wanting that one so it's a fun addition. . . The little things make the memories. 💙 #homeownerprojects#homereno#marriage#memories#personalization#weekend#sore#exhausted#wishiwerestillasleep
