Peugeot 205 T16 Evo2 (1985-1986) .. Peugeot gate crashed the WRC in 1984 with their incredible 205 T16. Loosely based on the production 205 Gti, Peugeot went mid-engine and four-wheel drive in their efforts to win the rally championship. Audi’s Quattro and Lancia’s wonderful 037 had by now redefined world rallying, so the only way to beat them was to construct a purpose-built rally monster. Peugeot mid-mounted the 1775cc turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and coupled with the 4-wheel drive and 424hp, the 907kg 205 T16 came rocketing through the pack and wrestle the WRC from the Audi Quattro in 1985. Peugeot settled on a 1.8-litre, 16V engine that initially produced 320hp, used the gearbox from the Citroen SM but transversely mounted it, while using a variable front-to-rear torque split for maximum traction. More was to come in 1986, when Peugeot brought out an ever more powerful Evolution 2 version in an effort to stay ahead of the pack. Figures are bandied around but the Evo2 had something between 500hp and 600hp, depending on how much boost they required for each race. The 205 T16 was now up against the monstrously powerful Lancia Delta S4 (turbo and supercharged to produce well over 500bhp), Audi Quattro Sport S1, Metro 6R4 and Ford RS200. Group B was fantastic and flawed and went out with a bang in every sense of the word. While world rallying’s Group B was in play, the axis of global motorsport shifted firmly away from Formula One and onto the rallying circuit. As per the rules, 200 road-going versions of the T16 had to be produced for holomagation, each came with 197hp. .. .. 📷 @autoracing_esp .. #somedayclassics#205t16evo2#peugeot#groupb#groupa#rally#wrc#oldtimer#classiccar#classicdriver#205gti#peugeot205gti#pug205gti#peugeot205#pug205 🇫🇷
🏆@ChampionsLeague🏆 🇫🇷 @psg 3-0 🇪🇸 @RealMadrid (@angeldimariajm x2, @thomas12meunier) 🙌🏻 Angel di Maria scored twice against former employers #realmadrid as Paris St-Germain began their #championsleague#groupa campaign with a comfortable win.
The pick of the group and undoubtedly the round features @psg and @realmadrid at Parc de Princes. Two giants are not without a history and are desperate to show the disappointments of the last season are behind them. They both got knocked out in the quarter-finals by Manchester United and Ajax respectively and have no smaller goal than winning the cup itself. Furthermore, there is a tantalizing prospect of getting revenge for PSG who were beaten 5-2 on aggregate by eventual champions Madrid in the 2017/18 UCL round of 16. It’s really an opening match with UCL final written all over it. Even without Neymar featuring in the first leg of the affair, star-power in the likes of Benzema, Icardi, Hazard, and Di Maria will surely not disappoint. ⠀ ⠀ UEFA Champions League Preview(Matchday 1): #groupa ⬆️ LINK IN BIO
