This will perform a few different functions.... It will help protect the site from wind and create an ideal micro climate for growing. It will act as a shelter belt for frogs, birds and beneficial insects aiding@in pollination. And, it will act as a wall creating a garden room. . . . #tpgardens#gardendesign#ediblegarden#kitchengarden#gardener
It's been said that humanity are the only species capable of changing the planet on a fundamental level today. (Hence the term Anthropocene.) However I disagree as we are not the only force that can do this...We are only the fastest at causing change currently. This is our power - Speed of thought... But in a world where our machines carry out thoughts, where does that leave us? Don't dissimulate your pontificate; share your thoughts!
A rosinweed, a sunflower, a tickseed? There's amazing diversity in the sunflower family: over 23,000 species worldwide grouped into over 1,600 genera. At first glance, this one looks like it might fit into one of those locally common groups. But bearsfoot (Smallanthus uvedalia), which grows in bottomland forests from New York down into Central America, is actually the only member of largely South American genus, Smallanthus, that’s native to the United States. You'll find it blooming — probably with some bee visitors — near the Totten Center.
“Weeds originated when cultivation originated. There are no weeds where there is no cultivation. They are enforcers of duty. They early punished neglect with the consuming growth of tares. They have always been coercers of improvement.” • #DailyLHBailey, from The Garden Fence by L. H.
