This post was inspired by a post by @moon.maidens.delights a few days back and got me thinking about investing in people and the authentic process. There have been other memes circulating about financial priorities, but I want to dig even deeper into our collective values. Our society has bred entitlement and distortion into the true value of people’s time and expertise and I don’t pretend to be immune from it. In order to break free from some of these negative societal constructs we have to start to deeply examine our values and where we invest our energy, time and money. People sometimes ask why we don’t take insurance and why our prices seem so high without realizing the hours of investment they get from 2 specialists in the field, and if you were to get really granular into the details behind our rates and time invested one would find that they are lower than nearly everyone else in our field. If we were forced to take insurance, we would flat out not exist and there would be no such thing as functional collaborative care in Charlottesville. If we truly value someone’s expertise and their own values invest in them knowing that by doing so they can invest in you and make a difference in other people’s lives. The same arguments can be made of our creative thinkers and artists- if you want to be moved by their thoughtful creative expression, invest in them and their wellbeing.  We are a growing loving consciousness that has the choice and freedom to invest in what we hold dear. I used to cook a lot. I mean A LOT. Every day I would spend a few hours in the kitchen baking, creating and trying new recipes. It was cathartic. It was meditative. It was as relaxing to me as a yoga class because my mind focused and all else dropped away. This was something that I loved.  I fell away from it, i mean let me be clear I still cook all meals every day, but not in the same way. I replaced cooking time with exercising, meal planning my macros, stressing about the scale. Seriously. I realize after having my son how much of my life was consumed by things that I enjoyed but didn’t necessarily help relieve stress- they were things that induced stress.  Mom life is stressful. I’m doing more now to get back to what relaxes me rather than winds me up. So, hello to new meals, new recipes and worrying less. I made this allergy-free chicken pot pie for my son and husband. This post is for all of us who walk into the gym and forget to stretch! 🤸🏻‍♂️ ⁣ ⁣ It took me years of working out to realize the importance of flexibility and mobility, and now I’ve put together a warm-up flow comprised of fluid movements and dynamic stretches that can quickly prep your body for any workout. I truly believe that flexibility is one of the major 🔑’s for longevity. This is part 1 of my routine everyday before I touch any weights, it makes me feel incredible and takes less than 5 minutes. ⁣ ⁣ The first few reps are at normal speed and the rest are fast forwarded for viewing purposes, the slower the better when going through this routine.⁣ ⁣ Mobility Flow Part 1: 5 reps for all exercises⁣ ⁣ 1. Tomato & Red Pepper & Basil Soup — We are at the end of our gardening season for the year and these are a few of the remains that I harvested. Wasn't sure what I was going to make until I got back inside and started looking at them. -- Made with chicken bone broth @kettleandfire , the ingredients included the tomatoes, peppers, basil, onion, garlic, olive oil, sea salt, black pepper, and paprika.
