Just me and the fog, dancing over the lake and slowly disappearing as the morning sun rises and makes the treetops shine. Still feeling soft, still feeling warm on my cheecks but the autumn is here, ready to take over.
#canada#cyclingday#biketour#findyouradventure#experience#estoesotromundo#enjoingeveryday#lifestyle#smile#differentday#pedaleando#bikegirl#bikealberta#relaxtime#
We were anxious to return to the last beach we cleaned, as we had been overwhelmed with the number of tiny bits of plastic that we saw there the first time. It was painstaking work, but it was nice to be able to focus on the minutiae. Although we're sure that there is more buried in the sand, we do feel good about what we've accomplished there! 😃✔👍🌊
I’m not an athlete. Yet last weekend I was in Leavenworth, Washington in the Cascade Mountains rock climbing and hanging out with a dozen badass outdoor adventure women. One surpassed a world record in skiing. One writes about rock climbing and backcountry life. One is an outdoor adventure photographer. One explored the country for a year with her dog and a pop up camper. One summited Mt Whitney. It goes on and on. All my new friends were fascinating and athletic. We did mountain hiking, paddle boarding, kayaking, rock climbing, stayed in cool little cabins, ate delicious meals by a gourmet chef, reflected on our lives and loves and fears and dreams, drank (lots of) wine, danced under the full moon, braided each other’s hair, cheered each other on. This was the first Escape event of AdventurUs Women, a new outdoor adventure company founded by my friend Saveria Tilden to bring women together for community, adventure and joy in the outdoors. Over the past few years in other contexts, Saveria has singlehandedly guided and inspired me to have outdoor adventures and explore this beautiful earth (I’ve included a couple past pics with her here to prove it!) This past weekend was no different. As I struggled with my kayak going sideways against a strong current and wind with storm clouds overhead (of course this had to be my first ever kayaking experience), a big fat shimmery rainbow appeared in the distance upstream. And Saveria shouted encouragingly to me, “Just paddle into the rainbow!” Suddenly it was no longer about me and my non-athleticism. It was about me and the shimmery rainbow and the stunning lake and vertical mountain forests surrounding me. I paddled into the rainbow and caught up with my new friends who were waiting for me. Thanks for an amazing adventure @adventuruswomen 🌈 Rock climbing photo: @eylenepirez #adventuruswomen#adventurouswomen#adventurus#leavenworth#findyouradventure#womenadventure#adventurewomen#highvibration
This moment felt like a fairytale... #vestrahorn#iceland#polorlstyle 📷 @chrisheck13 Sharp, rugged mountaintops slope to meet black sand caressed by deep blue waves. Even while standing there, you can’t quite believe your eyes. We were exploring a Viking village built for a movie that never happened, when I glanced up and saw these beautiful horses in the distance. I approached as they lazily grazed and watched as a couple of awkwardly long-legged young foals observed me curiously. I was greeted by one of the mother horses who happily enjoyed neck scratches between grazing. Her mane whipped in the wind and framed her dark eyes, wild and mysterious. They seemed to tell stories of her untamed existence roaming among this enchanting place. I just wanted to stay with them. I wondered if they knew how lucky they were to wake up every day to this otherworldly view. When I close my eyes, I can go back to this very moment, and when I do, I see the view through her dark eyes. I can feel the wind in my hair, smell the crisp ocean air, and beside the jagged mountains and along the black sand beaches... I too run wild and free.
