Combining the setting of Clue (the film) and the over-the-top survivalist action of You’re Next, Ready or Not is a pure adrenaline rush of comedic violence that “kinda” works. Ready or Not thrusts us into the wedding of young lovers Grace (Samara Weaving) and Daniel Le Domas. Despite being on the precipice of their life together, Daniel is clearly worried about something. Grace chalks it up to his ultra-rich and intimidating family disapproving of their marriage. Later that evening, she is informed she must partake in a family ritual: a random game chosen by her. Most of the cards are harmless games such as Old Maid, however she draws Hide and Seek. Shortly after deciding on a hiding spot, she is horrified to find the family is out to kill her. Using only her wits, she must survive the night or perish. One thing was clear upon exiting the theatre; Samara Weaving is going to be a huge star. She was the best aspect of this film, rather easily. From start to finish, she carries herself through scenes with complete confidence and sells the action, comedic, and dramatic moments. ⬇️ • #readyornot#filmlover#filmaddict#filmjunkie#cinephile#moviereviews#movies#thrillers#likeforlikes

And then some!

Dir. Damien Chazelle Starring: Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone This is my favorite film ever for so many reasons and I could watch it over and over again. Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone are both very talented actors and they are absolutely perfect for the roles of Sebastian and Mia. They do an excellent job capturing how passionate Sebastian and Mia are about their dreams and Emma Stone’s Oscar was well deserved along with Ryan Gosling’s nomination! I also love the songs in this movie. The soundtrack is beautiful. I adore the songs in this film, even though Ryan and Emma don’t have broadway voices. I actually like that though, because it makes the movie seem more realistic and natural. Damien Chazelle’s directing is absolutely fantastic, and you can tell he puts a lot of work to make the movie unique while paying homage to classic films. I also enjoy the simplistic plot that the film has. It’s a movie about two people that fall in love that help each other make their dreams come true. The movie has overall positive vibes and I think we need more movies like that! Last but definitely not least, the cinematography in this film is stunning. The film is visually gorgeous and if there’s any reason you should watch La La Land, it’s for the visuals. This movie means a lot to me because it is the movie that started my appreciation for a lot of things. This is the movie that introduced me to Ryan Gosling, who is now one of my favorite actors and helped me discover even more movies that I really like. It also made me appreciate Emma Stone a lot more as an actress and made me want to check out the rest of her catalog as well. It also made me appreciate cinematography and is the reason I started getting invested in films in the first place! If it wasn’t for this movie, this account wouldn’t be here, nor would my appreciation for any aspects of filmmaking. What are your thoughts on La La Land?
