We had fun today checking out "Head over Heels" at Orenco Woods Nature Park in Hillsboro🤩🤩#summerfun#exploringnaturewithchildren#exploring#creatingmemories#nature#artwork#childhood#funday#pnw#oregonbeauty#bestoforegon#oregonlife#myboys
29 degrees it was on Sunday here! We played on the beach finding soldier crabs in our sandcastles and then we took the boys for a walk through the mangroves. My youngest is coming down with something, so I hope the big dose of vitamin D eliminates whatever nasties are making him irritable! Get outside! - always my first choice for fighting bugs. Who wouldn't want to go lay in the sun on a beautiful beach when they aren't quite feeling 100%!
Checking out the bell peppers. They are coming along well, but our first one didn't turn out. Send like they might have some sort of disease. Hopefully the rest will be ok though! . . . #1000hoursoutside #wildchildren #runwildmychild #naturekids #natureplay #outdoorplay #optoutside #exploringnaturewithchildren #backyardplay #barefoot #containergardening #containergarden #kidsplanting #toddlergardening #bellpepper #bellpeppers

You guys, swings made of drifted logs on the beach, just pure magic. ✨ We’re currently packing for a 24 hour travel day tomorrow on our next adventure. And the first continent to be crossed off our list. And I’m super sorry because I failed y’all. I was supposed to be done sharing about this western US trip before we left and I didn’t get it all shared. And this IG page, it’s a story of our journey, it’s our family scrapbook. So for me it’s important to keep that in chronological order. So if you can bear with me, I’m going to try to get through the rest of this trip as fast as I can and get caught up. Thanks for sharing this space with us and following our little crew.💕
My sweet wild soul. You challenge me in the most joyful ways. #pondstudy #exploringnaturewithchildren @raisinglittleshoots
What a beautiful day with some beautiful families 😍 We got to spend the evening exploring @bonhamstatepark learning about the frog life cycle and doing our #pondstudy with friends. #exploringnaturewithchildren #natureschooling #raisinglittleshoots @raisinglittleshoots @kelly_amb @inspired2live_and2learn

It never gets old seeing him explore the garden. His curiosity amazes me. He will be 11 months this week and I can’t believe how far he has come in such a short time . I am beyond blessed to be this boys momma . #mommybloggersofinstagram #parentingbloggers #boymomlife #gardenbaby #garden #raisedgardenbeds #summer #summertime #summer2019 #beautiful #exploringnaturewithchildren #explore #lovehim
Some favorite shots from our explore today! I love seeing their discoveries and hearing their excitement as they recognized some of our favorite storybook friends along the trail 🥰 - - - #wildandfreechildren #readaloudfamily #living_homeschool #givethembeauty #allgoodthingsarewildandfree #storybooks #pondstudy #exploringnaturewithchildren
He comes home the pockets full of treasures, every time we take a walk. Another thing I love about him! Little tip for parents of collectors like me: I leave a basket near the door to hold the treasures and when the basket is full, he needs to make some space before putting more. 🧺🍂🌿🌰🐿 - - - - - #habitandhome #runwildmychild #pursuepretty #seekthesimplicity #exploringnaturewithchildren #naturekids #naturecollector #naturalchildhood #magicofchildhood #childrenseemagic #welivetoexplore #livethelittlethings #livefolk #slowchildhood #slowliving #theartofchildhood #theartofslowliving #documentlife #smalljoys #getaftergrateful #documentyourdays
And they have 30,000-lens eyes. Not only are they beautiful they are great predators in your garden. Adding a small water feature in your garden will attract them to stay a little longer. Our first day back to homeschool was a success! We read lots of books, made glitter glue tactile flash cards, went on a nature walk and baked an apple pie! 🌿🕯📚🍎
I can see those freckles peeking through😍
As soon as that door opens Jaxon is straight outside playing in the garden! Aren’t these pants from @trishamakes the cutest . . . #trishamakes #handmade #aussiehandmade #aussiekids #outsideplay #kidsclothing #exploringnaturewithchildren #brandreps #aussiebrandreps #babiesofinstagram
August 19th 2019. Two Days before our oldest starts TK.
EXPLORE WHERE YOU ARE • We’re heading into year 13 of homeschooling. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned since hitting the road this past year was to explore where we are. So often we get comfortable in our hometowns. Never venturing out, seeing what hidden gems may be around that we never knew about. Or maybe it’s simply saying we’ll make it there...someday. Next weekend, next month. What we realized was that saying we’ll get there eventually, never happened. So many places left unexplored. • So mamas, get out there. Take learning outdoors and explore your local areas. Discover something new and fall in love with where you are! • While visiting La Conner, WA we visited Deception Pass State Park several times. It was never on our to visit list but When our friends @theromingpopes told us there was an extremely low tide day we knew we had to go explore! This tide pool wasn’t as vibrant, active and alive as the tide pool we explored in Canon Beach, Oregon, but it did hold a few wonders we were amazed by! There were volunteers onsite to guide us and answer questions and they even showed us a picture of the sea anemone eating an octopus 2 days before!! Just let that sink in!! • This school year I encourage you to embrace a lifestyle of learning. Get out there and explore where you are and find new, local, places to fall in love with! . . . #deceptionpass #pnwadventures #exploringnaturewithchildren #tidepool #pnwlifestyle #kidswhoexplore #roadschooling #learningfreelyoutside #charlottemasoneducation #lifeofahomeschooler #tinybigadventure #gowithnugget #travelokido #thisishomeschool #unschooling #lifelearners #takeyourkidseverywhere #charlottemasonhomeschool #homeschoolfamily #travelfamily #mytinytribe #optoutside #homeiswhereyouparkit #fulltimervfamily #wildexplorersclub #rvlivingwithkids #homeonetheroad #parentswhowander #wildandfreechildren #enchantedchildhood
Ah Yellowstone....its hard to believe it’s already been 6 weeks since we were there...it truly is as amazing as everyone says it is. This is the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. Ah....mazing! The way we tend to travel in our RV and otherwise is to jam in a bunch of different sites along the way and barely scratch the surface of what it has to offer. Although we touched on or drove to every corner of Yellowstone we just barely explored it all. The girls are already planning when we take our return cross country trip which places we will revisit. And I thought we were going to take a different route?! Stay tuned in two years! Where is your favorite place you like to revisit?
Welcome to mice and molluscs week! It’s time to haul out the head lamps and torches for a night hunt to find mice. We’ll compare house mice to native mice and take a look at the last mouse plague that cost Australia $96 million. It’s interesting to note that there were no house mice before the first fleet arrived in 1788. We’re also investigating slimy snails. What’s your focus on nature study this week?
Our school room squeezed into 4 small squares. @inspire_homeschoolcommunity_ie @inspirecharterschools @blossomandroot @raisinglittleshoots @homeschoolcollective
Our homemade chalkboard for the first week ( colored over name ) . Waiting for our animal alphabet cards and animal number cards to arrive .. I plan on hanging them above and below the chalkboard on twin and then placing a wooden boarder around the chalkboard :) @inspire_homeschoolcommunity_ie @inspirecharterschools @blossomandroot @raisinglittleshoots
Back in the wild, loving life, getting grubby and climbing everything in sight
Our curriculum + resources arrived a couple of days ago - just in time, because school officially started this week 😬 (I’m a procrastinator. What can I say) . Since I’ve gotten so many questions on this subject, I thought I’d share what we are using for my first grader this year . ✨ Right Start Math Level B - his understanding of numbers has grown so much after using this for K last year, it’s so good ✨ The Good and The Beautiful Marine Biology and Space Science - our first year using this and it looks fantastic! ✨ Exploring Nature With Children - our beloved nature study guide ✨ Classical Conversations - our group meets once a week ✨ Abeka Spelling and Poetry - my kid adores worksheets 🤷‍♀️ so I wanted something he could work on independently. He is an amazing reader (self-taught, cue the sound of angels singing) so I’m not doing any phonics at the moment ✨ Beautiful Feet Books Around the World with Picture Books Part 2 - Europe and South America (goes well with CC) ✨ Discovering Great Artists - a hands-on look at the world’s greatest artists . Other resources - our beloved MAPS book, The Usborne Encyclopedia of World History, our geoboard and our new @chalkfullofdesign name tracing board (thanks, @thatstorybooklife for the idea!) . One day a week is also spent at a local charter school program that offers a full day of electives (piano, art, Taekwondo and more - it’s awesome!) . I’ll post flip-throughs in stories, as well as our weekly rhythm, and I’d love to answer any questions you have. Happy back-to-school! 💙📚✏️
