I went for a walk in the morning and was literally sitting in a 'throne' made by a tree… __ This time for me in nature has become a non-negotiable because my nervous system absolutely needs it to reset. This is not something I always knew about myself and it led to a lot of feelings of overwhelm, anxiety and simply feeling unsettled. We are all built differently so it's great to learn what works for you! __ I'll also share that this ability to implement more some structure and discipline into my life around what my body needed to feel good took me a while. It's something I would fall in and out of... it's one thing to know what you need and another thing to put it into place. __ This is still a work in progress... however, the more I implement what I know works, the better I feel and the more clear I am in my life. I feel more connected. I take things less personally. I can extend a lot more understanding and compassion to others and to myself. I'm less hard on myself because I recognize my own humanity. __ All of this is the result of a lot of deep inner work and a willingness to sit through so much discomfort and yes, also painful feelings. And though I had access to tons of practices and tools, I didn't do it alone. I've often had the support of a mentor or healer or have been a part of a supportive group. __ Sometimes we think we should be able to handle our emotional experiences on our own.. but I find that our emotional lives impact EVERYTHING else in our lives so why wouldn't we seek out the right support for us if we are struggling? __ Those are definitely the best investments I have made because as I learn, grow, and evolve, I get to use all those skills and knowledge to help others which is such a gift for me. __ If you are struggling with staying present, with challenging relationship dynamics, with a feeling of anxiousness that seems to have no obvious origin, there is likely something for you to look at and heal. When I first experienced The Journey in 2017, I had an extremely powerful emotional as well as physical healing experience. It helped me become self-aware and be gentler on myself, heal allergies and PCOS. As I continued to experience The Journey work, I found things shifting on the inside. Experiencing the magnitude of this shift made me sign up for The Journey practitioner track. I assisted for The Journey seminar in Bombay this weekend and what a powerful 2 days it was. Each and every one of the participants this time was truly ready and committed to exploring their deepest emotions and resolving whatever chose to show up for them. PORTLAND, OREGON :: As we wrap up our month spent here in Portland [we leave tomorrow], I’m reflecting on our experience and more specifically on how the energy of this place has interacted with me. Part of the intrigue of embarking on this nomadic journey has been to feel into the energies of places I haven’t had the opportunity to spend much time in, if any at all, and dig a little deeper. . While some places have really worked me and their energies felt very distinct to me, Portland’s energy has felt really subtle and clear to me in contrast to the other places we’ve been. It has a lot of things that I love to offer like healthy farm fresh food available in abundance, flowers, plants and trees everywhere [BIG 🌲], friendly people who engage you in conversation when you least expect it and encourage you to slow down, anonymity that comes with staying in a city where you only know under a handful of people, the ocean and mountains within 1.5 hours away, high quality and affordable healing resources, etc. and I’ve felt pretty comfortable here. But the way in which it influences my energy has been minimal. My energy here feels like it has a clear boundary with the energy of the environment and that has been a nice change. . This month has given me an opportunity to really look at where I'm at and what is possible without a lot of strong energetic influence from my environment. It's allowed my own energy to reemerge and to allow myself to really fill up on it. It’s been a month of processing, feeling, letting go, holding on, letting go again, doing my work with support from a trusted coach & guide, and most importantly, restructuring some things that create containers of support for my life, and realizing that it is time to invite more ease into my healing journey. All for the greater goal of healing myself, expanding my capacity to help others, and bringing a medicine that is uniquely mine to offer to the world! . So, that’s a wrap for now,

f r e e ∘ y o u r ∘ m i n d . Ya know, I’ve been thinking about the mind lately (haha). Our minds are so so powerful! But they also have this nasty habit of getting in our way. . We spend time stressing about things that have not, and may never happen. Our mind might be filled with negative self talk. Or maybe we spend time thinking about the past, feeling insecure, shame, guilt, regret. We fear loss, and relentlessly try to think of ways to avoid it. Sometimes we have obsessive or repetitive thought patterns. Our thoughts may be clouded by limiting beliefs about our Self and what’s possible for our life. . Basically it can get very loud in there. We get so caught up in our thoughts that we forget to stay present and focus on what is in front of us. Sometimes we even think ourselves into a paralytic type state. A state where we are frozen from taking action, lost in a downward spiral of daunting thoughts. It drains the joy from the here and now. . I know I have struggled so hard with an overactive mind. Care to know what it's like to spend one minute inside my skull, while I was photographing the Cincinnati Trump rally? Probably not. But nonetheless, here's a weird little window into my process. So, for a little background: If a protestor infiltrates the crowd inside a Trump rally, and starts shouting or holds up a sign, Trump will pause his speech, turn his attention to the protestor and wait as the crowd whips itself into a frenzy, surrounding the protestor and shouting "USA! USA!" over and over until security can come and drag the protestor away. This is common practice at Trump rallies now, and the attendees do it automatically. That's what's happening at the beginning of this video: You can see the small group of protestors surrounded by people in MAGA hats, plus a nervous security guard on his radio. But then my view pans left, swinging across the whole stadium crowd. Trump is on stage, somewhere in the background, but I didn't focus on him. Instead I focused on one especially angry man in a Trump shirt and MAGA hat who kept jumping up onto the guard rail to shout at the protestors. First he was yelling: "USA!" And then after that: "Go home!" During this, I snapped his photo about 10 times. And that's it. One, unbroken minute in the middle of my work. This video pretty much captures what I do. None of it was planned. I just saw something and pulled the shutter. (Except that this time, I happened to be taking video simultaneously.) The music in the background is another cover I made. And which you'll probably recognize. These days, all the lyrics to old love songs sound like they're about America to me. Try listening to some oldies with that idea in mind. It's weird.
