FRIENDSHIP is key when you start a fitness journey. Or really, no surprise, friendships are important all around. But it is well studied if you can have a partner in crime to hold you responsible when you start something new, especially exercise, than you are one step ahead of the game. I'm not going to tag my partner in crime as she deserves her privacy, but interestingly enough, we were more like acquaintances than friends at the time of our life changing conversation. Don't get me wrong, I definitely knew we had friendship in our future. And I was right about that... But I took a leap of faith literally that day, Summer of 2018, as we shared space at the neighborhood pool. We were talking and she turned to me and said do you want to share a trainer with me? It truly was a meant to be moment. At that time, I thought I was in pretty good shape. I ran 3 times a week at the river and I was actively "doing" the videos from @trainerlindsey. But I knew there was room for improvement. And that photo was lingering in my mind. The most motivating part of this story, was my friend, she stuck to her word. Did a lot of research and honestly did all the work to find and hire a trainer. Did you know that we all have what is known as an "inner family" in our minds? Yes, thats right. We have many different unique characters in our minds that evolve from basic needs for survival, growth and actualization. This is also known as inner dialogue or self talk and many times keeps us from doing things we want and/or should do such as exercise.  I mean think about it...the research is all there confirming that exercise is a breakthrough medicine. It enhances our brains and bodies. It improves neuroplasticity and learning and helps avoid, delay or even treat many health issues both physical and mental. Most of us know the short and long term benefits of exercise  yet around 50% never make it a consistent habit. Crazy right!? This inner dialogue can unintentionally steer us away from our workouts by suggesting we are to tired or have to many other things to do. Having an inner family, with inherently competing interests and needs, is natural and normal. It is important for you to listen to your "inner family" and resolve disputes that get in the way of exercise.  So next time one of your inner family members suggests putting your workout off until tomorrow or attempts to convince you that you don't have the time or the energy for it, turn that voice down and get moving. After you get that workout in you will be even more productive and creative. You will also have more energy and more patience. The great thing about fitness is that it spills into everything else in your life in so many amazing ways. MY TRANSFORMATION 🥵  The first picture was January 1st, the day I decided to start taking lifting seriously (so cliché, I know) and the second picture was after my shower following today’s workout. The third picture is January 1st again (what my glutes started off at), and the final picture was right after my lift today (some slight growth🍑). —————— The point of showing my transformation is that it takes TIME. This is a 9 month transformation of consistency and dedication with lifting AND keeping a balanced diet. Something I realized along this journey is that my transformation isn’t the same as anyone else’s. We all have DIFFERENT bodies so yours won’t be the same as mine either. Some days I still wake up feeling insecure and hating the way I look, but then I look back at where I started and realize that I have come a LONGGGG way. Don’t let what you think others will think about you bring you down or stop you from going to the gym and training. Grilled bacon wrapped mahi mahi & roasted butternut squash w/bacon...I.LOVE.BACON. Recipe below 👇🏼 •Grilled Bacon wrapped mahi mahi *set grill to 300 degrees *Rinse & pat dry mahi mahi *Sprinkle garlic powder, sea salt & black pepper on each side *wrap 1-2 pieces of bacon on mahi mahi & hold together w/a toothpick *on aluminum foil grill 4-5 mins/side based on how cooked you like your fish. Remove toothpicks & serve.  Roasted butternut squash w/bacon *set oven to roast @ 325 degrees *peel, seed & cut butternut squash into cubes. Wisdom Wednesday ・・・ I can’t say it enough, you will see change in your skin quicker when you are consistent with quality home-care & treatments. . Sometimes starting a new skin regimen can take 3 months until you start seeing results. This is because your skin needs to go through a few cell cycles before it shows change. A cell cycle can be anywhere from 28-40+ days depending on age. . Honestly, it’s just like going to the gym to get in shape, it won’t happen overnight, but it will happen overtime when you are... consistent! 💪 . I've been debating whether or not to post this because honestly I'm not quite happy with it.  This is me at a raw state with absolutely no pump and no good lighting. I have sooo much to improve on, but it motivates me that much more.  It is all about finding enjoyment in the process. Not feeding into the frustrations.  Coach has me on a mini cut right now because I was becoming a little too inflamed from the high surplus mixed with little to no sleep and trying to get my stress managed.  My goal is to continue to add size over time. I need these quads to growwww, baby.  We'll hop back into this bulk in about a month. I'm already feeling less bloated with better digestion.  I have come such a long way, but I am determined to strive for more. I see my ideal physique in my head and in due time, I will get there.  We all go through these mental battles in our heads when physique training. It’s best to not let these consume you though. Trust the process & keep crushing the plan. ~ anxiety ~ let’s talk about it.  I don’t really know where to start because it is such a heavy topic for me. What I will say is anxiety sucks. For the first time since November of 2018 my anxiety has been debilitating. Im talking the kind of anxiety where you are up for an entire night, pacing with ruminating thoughts trying to rationalize why me, why these thoughts “I’m okay” but understanding that with time, it will pass and there isn’t much you can do. I’ve been journaling, tapping into my spirituality and focusing on my health, which has definitely helped but as we all know, anxiety comes and goes. . . Self care… how do you do it? 💆⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ I think fitness and being outdoors is a form of self care, but personally, I don't refer to it as a form of 'self care' that often, because I think it has become too much of a buzz term, and conversations about the topic in general have gotten a tad out of hand. 🤷‍♀️⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ However, I do acknowledge that it is still important!⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ Although I love my work, it can be stressful, and it is so important to take time off, even though I have to admit sometimes my computer sucks me in more than it should...😬🙊 However, I do schedule time away... might sound silly but I have to make sure it happens.⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ Other than scheduling time away, these are some of the ways I practice self care:⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ 🚶‍♀️I workout every morning, some times just a walk but I always get in some movement.⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ 🤗Every Sunday I schedule a DIY session with myself to work on crafting type projects with my hands. I love love love, building stuff!! This keeps my creative brain happy, while also allowing me to do something that is relaxing and enjoyable, that doesn't involve my computer screen. 🎨⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ 💃 Then of course Salsa dancing on Friday nights is pretty much a non-negotiable. 😍⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ As a business owner, it’s important to take time off and recharge so I can serve my clients as well on Monday morning as I do every other day of the week.⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ It can be hard to make time for it, but when I do I am so much more refreshed throughout my week. 😊⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ So, what is your favorite form of away-from-your-work-time?
We spend 30% of our lives in bed, so turning your bedroom into a sanctuary is top priority.  Treat it as sacred and your brain will automatically associate it with sleeping. You can’t expect change without changing things.⁣🙄 ⁣ If you want change, you’ve got to be willing to be uncomfortable temporarily.⁣🤷🏽‍♀️ ⁣ How do you expect to meet your fitness goals if you aren’t willing to trade the time you would spend Netflixing for the time you could be exercising? ⁣🧐 ⁣ Or, if you aren’t willing to start preparing some meals rather than head to the drive thru 3x a day?⁣ 🧐 ⁣ Change takes sacrifice.⁣🙏🏽 ⁣ How does it feel to set a goal and not met it? Not good right? I know. I have done that. It isn’t a fun feeling. ⁣😭 ⁣ I always remind my clients that no program will work unless you do first.⁣🤷🏽‍♀️ ⁣ I find with all goals that are not met, it always is because something didn’t change in order for change to happen. 👉🏼Your health and fitness goals aren’t going to be met doing the same thing you have done year after year. ⁣ ⁣ You won’t get in shape making the excuse of “I am too busy to workout” and continuously spending that time watching Netflix or scrolling IG.⁣❌ ⁣ You won’t reach your health goals constantly going through drive throughs because “too busy”, when really you failed to prepare ahead.⁣ ⁣ You won’t reach your goals attempting some extreme diet or workout program, only to keep falling off, promising yourself “I’ll start again Monday”...then finding yourself saying the same thing week after week. ⁣ ⁣ 🙏🏽CHANGE takes getting uncomfortable. It takes changing habits. Not doing a 30 day challenge in hopes of losing some weight and keeping it off forever. No. It takes LIFESTYLE changes.⁣ ⁣ Do you struggle with reaching your fitness goals?
