My big boy started 4th Grade yesterday! And NO I did not cry!! What kind of mom do you take me for! I ain’t no wimp! My heart did sink a bit when he walked off with his buddies while blowing me a kiss 🥺 Needless to say, Jay had a good first day 🤗 #tinsleyco#muvamaven
Just like that, 6th grade!! I remember when the ‘first day of school’ brought jitters of both angst and excitement for both of us. Now, as he grows up, it’s just..... DIFFERENT. I can now see how this tween / pre-teen stage can be a rough patch in how parents and their kids relate. Your beloved baby, who you could predict without fail suddenly becomes almost as foreign as the most out of reach star. Things get weird, and you try to hold on, but then you realize that they’re growing up and need that little bit of space. Yet simultaneously, they say and do little things that show they still need you. They still crave your love and attention. It is such a strange phenomenon and a thin line between keeping them close and alienating them. Regardless of it all, I can only hope that my young man is as successful this school year as he’s been in every single year before this... straight A’s, stays out of trouble, and virtually perfect attendance. Have any of you parents experienced the weird pre-teen phase yet? Can you offer any tips for this transition?
~1st Day of School 2017. vs 2019~ Yesterday was my 1st Daughter’s 1st day of Kindergarten. She was super excited for this new start. For me, Emotions ran wild. Sure I was happy to see her reach another milestone, And very Happy to see her so elated to go to school. But I was also so nervous and worried ( I still am for a number of reasons )..... I got goosebumps seeing her walk into this new school. I walked away with a lump in my throat and an ache in my chest. I’m sure as time goes by it will get better. I’m also sure that this won’t be the last time I feel this way. And that’s ok. I have to remind myself that I don’t need to suppress those emotions. They are natural. It is important for us to “feel” or “express” our emotions because: 1. When you numb negative emotions, you also numb the good ones 2. Struggling with your emotions often leads to more suffering 3. Process and experiencing your feelings is part of having a full life So cry it out, talk it out, hug it out. You aren’t being dramatic, you are processing your emotions. The only way you’ll fully get over whatever it is , is to actually go through it.
⭐️ My second child is almost 2. It’s been a struggle to get back in shape. Eating well and working out when you are already exhausted, talk about hard! Started over this week. Hoping I can stay on track! I know I’m not the only one 😩⭐️
BACK TO SCHOOL...Yesterday my babies went back to school. I officially have a 7th grader & a 4th grader🍎 * Niah had a great first day! I’m loving her 7th grade schedule❤️She has Spanish this year so I can’t wait for the day she comes home showing what she has learned. She also made her school’s cheer team so that’s exciting and most of her schedule is Pre-AP so she’s well on her way. I’m super proud of her! * KJ had a great first day as well! He’s excited that some of his friends is back in his class this year. I’m loving his teachers this year so all in all I think it’s going to be a great school year for the kid📚 Have your kids gone back to school yet? #ownyourfancy#backtoschool#houstonkids#4thgrader#7thgrader
@fantasia_mcguffie: "For all of my breastfeeding mamas out there! I love the benefits of nursing...They are really GREAT, but can we talk about these sacrifices though? Lol • Bruh you're almost 8 months which means that I have 4 more months of nursing (my personal goal) and we're gonna be mommy AND son not mommy-son 😂 Yes I'll miss parts of it, but that's why we have pictures and video. • Sn: I almost didn't post this because I'd prefer to have on lip gloss, concealer, and my hair done aka not in a tangled bun 😂. But this is the other side of real life. How many opportunities have you missed because you were waiting for the "perfect" moment?! 🤔 let me go first and say, "A ton! #blackmomsblog
PRE-K starts in two weeks 😭😭😭 Sharing Raegan’s teacher and classmate gifts with you today! I typically don’t give teachers supplies as gifts, because I consider them tools, not gifts....but I thought lots of pretty pens and markers would be a stu”PEN”dous way to start off the year 😉 Placed them all in a super cute carryall bag, and clipped on a fun note and Starbucks card! When I asked Raegan what she thought her new classmates would like, she originally said cotton candy 😂 Then I asked what they would like for school and she said crayons haha! Added some fun stickers as a way to say hello! I also just want to add that I share these ideas with you because creating them comes naturally to me, and I want to serve by sharing that inspiration. Back to School or any special time doesn’t look just one way. Maybe you’re gifting your volunteer time, or extra tissues and hand sanitizer. Maybe you’ve made an organized schedule for your family this year, or yummy lunches. We all have our strengths, and all of our babies will be better because of them. Praying for all of the hard working educators and for all the mamas making it happen for their families! I’ll be giving a closer look at our gifts in my stories! Share your fun teacher gifts with me too! I love to see what you all create!
I can’t believe it’s school season already. That doesn’t mean that family fun time is over! Did you know that your local @amazinggoodwill_ has board games? We made sure to stock up on some board games that we can play after school for fun! Family playtime is important to us as it encourages communication, laughter, and camaraderie which is the foundation to our family. Do you play board games with your family? #amazinggoodwill#ad

Guys, there's a new opportunity for you to #shopsmall and #buyblack in Jersey! Michelle is the owner of a new massage & wellness studio in Haddonfield. 👏 . . Shs has been using her hands as a masseuse for years, and I'm so glad she has her own space. When I was pregnant with Summer, she gave me the VERY best massage ever. I was 8 months, huge and in a lot of pain. The time and care she took was exactly what I needed. . . Not to mention, she is an amazing doula who played a huge role in my recovery when I didn't even know what a doula was. My postpartum period was NOT going well and her care & support helped us to survive. ❤️ I will be forever grateful for this beautiful soul. . . She also shares a space with a Gyrotonic professional, Lisa. (Scroll to the last pic with Sum) Think pilates meets yoga, with physical therapy and personal training. The practice sessions focus on aligning your spine and relieves all sorts of physical issues, plus supports mental wellness. (collective wooooosaaaaa) Have you heard of #gyrotonic ?
