This is a face of pride. Just did my first insta live. Something I have been putting off for ages. It was off the cuff and unprepared. Could I do better? 💯Will I get better? 💯 The more you practice something that makes you uncomfortable the better you get. It’s that simple. Public speaking makes me uncomfortable. I get a dry tongue and my heart races. I also get a brain freeze. But do I KNOW I can get better? You bet I do. It’s just a skill. And the more you practice a skill, the better you get. I’m sick and tired of the negative voice in my head, called Bertha, telling me what I cannot do. Bertha isn’t even real! She’s made up of other people’s views. She’s made up of a desire to fit in. To play small. Bertha will maybe always be a part of me, but she’s going to have to learn to pipe the hell down. I’m going to get really good at insta lives Bertha. In fact I’m going to excel at them. I’m going to have millions of followers. And yes Bertha you’d better believe I am a motivational speaker and public speaker. So watch this space Bertha. I’m just going to get bigger and badder than ever 💪🙌👊🤩
MY GOAL: I will practice one Yoga With Adriene video every day. . Just before the middle of August, I decided to create some new goals. One of the goals I decided to work on was in the area of health & wellness. . ✅ Is my goal SPECIFIC? I lay out exactly what I need to do with no room for cheating at my goal. . ✅ Is my goal MEASURABLE? Although there is no time component to my goal, you can measure it in videos. . ✅ Is my goal ATTAINABLE? Very much so! Especially because I know people globally are participating in the same yoga challenge. . ✅ Is my goal REALISTIC? It may have been more realistic to add in a rest day. However, I have been resting a lot this year from injuries, so I wanted the challenge! I can always rewrite this goal to make it more sustainable. . ✅ Is my goal TRACKABLE? Yes, swipe left to see my tracked progress. As you can see, I’ve gone above & beyond my goal by practicing two videos almost daily. . ✅ Do I have any EXCUSES? Honestly, at first, I did. I thought “what if my injury flares up?” “Shouldn’t I take it easier and rest more?” And I decided to not let my thoughts stop what my body knew it needed: daily movement. So I put my excuses aside, and did the hard work. . ✅ Do I have the right MINDSET? With confidence, I knew when I set this goal that I could complete it with self-discipline (NOT motivation). My mindset got to the right place after I tackled my excuses and changed my thoughts (to then change my behaviours). . So, I did a thing. Being a world renowned and respected motivational speaker is my goal. Sharing my story in hopes of helping others find their inner strength and offer hope is my why. This is my first step towards my how.
