Just finished making a delish banana loaf and now putting my feet up to read Us for a wee while. WHICH btw I started last night and OMG I truly believe Nicholls is some kind of wizard – how is it possible to write in a way which is so quickly gripping and witty and emotional?? A m a z i n g. . I have a hunch I'm going to come out of this one feeling a little like I did after Sweet Sorrow. ♥️ . Have you read much of Nicholls' work? What have you enjoyed that he's written?
This is so important to me now that I have a baby girl...I’m going to help her see that being herself in all her silly weird and wonderful glory is the “prettiest” way for her to be...#stronggirlsclub Girls being fearless. Girls being silly. Girls being wild, stubborn, and proud. Girls whose faces are smeared with dirt and lit up with joy. So simple and yet so powerful, Strong Is the New Pretty celebrates, through more than 175 memorable photographs, the strength and spirit of girls being 100% themselves. Real beauty isn’t about being a certain size, acting a certain way, wearing the right clothes, or having your hair done (or even brushed). Real beauty is about being your authentic self and owning it. Kate T. Parker is a professional photographer who finds the real beauty in girls, capturing it for all the world to see in candid and arresting images. A celebration, a catalog of spirit in words and smiles, an affirmation of the fact that it’s what’s inside you that counts, Strong Is the New Pretty conveys a powerful message for every girl, for every mother and father of a girl, for every coach and mentor and teacher, for everyone in the village that it takes to raise a strong and self-confident person. Next book of 2019! Has anyone read it?? #bookish#bookworm#bookaholic#bookstagram#recommendedreading#newbook#bookstagrammer#bookshelf#booklover#instabooks#booknerd#booklife#bookgeek#bookaddict#book#ilovebooks#ilovereading#readmorestressless#readmorebooks#reading #sheistoofondofbooksandithasturnedherbrain #sheistoofondofbooks#bibliophile#bibliophilelife#bookshop#bookstore#strongisthenewpretty#katetparker
#coffeeandcurrentlyreading Chances Are. I love Richard Russo books. Intense character development and rich story lines are definitely my thing. I just wish I had more time to sit and read, but building my business is consuming a lot of my brain space.
REVIEW 🖤 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ • This was such an entertaining, fast-paced thriller - perfect if you want something that will immediately grab your attention and take you on a ride! 🤭 • It centres around a holiday cottage in Ireland where the manager is watching guests with hidden cameras in their rooms 😳 Except one night he gets a lot more than he bargained for and watches as one of them is brutally murdered - and the murderer knows about the camera 😮 • The story is told through a really interesting timeline where the author uses Play, Pause, Rewind and Fastforward to show the shift in time in the chapters. This took me a little while to get used to but once I did it worked really well. It definitely gives the feeling that you’re being thrown around in time to see small snippets of events that then come together at the end 👌🏻 • The cast of characters were mostly well done - for the fact it’s quite action based you do get enough insights into their pasts to flesh them out. The author was great at making their voices distinct enough to work with a timeline that changes constantly 👍🏻 • I thought the ending was solid, not mind-blowing but still well written. There’s not some crazy plot twist thrown in right at the end for shock value, rather a sinister revelation of events that you’ve been given small access to throughout the book 🕵️♀️ • I’ve never read this author before but I will definitely look out for her other books - I really enjoyed her writing style and plotting and would love to see what else she has to offer 🙌🏻
QOTD: if you could have a superpower, what would you choose?⠀ .⠀ Teleportation is tempting - it would make the commute so much easier!! But I’d only want it if I could bring someone with me, and could teleport around the world with my husband 😁⠀ .⠀ 📚📚📚BOOK REVIEW📚📚📚⠀ .⠀ This was a difficult one to arrange my thoughts about. On the one hand, it tackles the sensitive and difficult situation of child as career for parent, which I can only applaud the author for tackling. But on the other hand it doesn’t really come together as an effective story about either Scout’s loss of her mother, or the solving of the crime that makes up the bulk of the story.⠀ .⠀ Plus it bashes To Kill a Mockingbird, and I’m not cool with that.⠀ .⠀ The identity of the killer is obvious because there’s really only one candidate for who it can be, going by the law of fiction that it has to be someone you’ve been introduced to in the first few chapters of the book. The entire cast is made of people who can’t possibly be the killer, on account of being a young child, or not alive the first time round, so there’s no suspense there. And because the killer is somewhat removed from Scout and her situation, there’s no real emotional drive for the character to figure things out. It was hard to care about the crime when none of it impacted Scout directly. Overall, a mix of good ingredients that doesn’t quite pull together to make an effective, coherent whole.⠀ .⠀ I received a free copy from @Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.⠀ .⠀ #bookstagramuk#prettybooks#booksbooksbooks#allthebooks#bookishlove#bookishgirl#booknerds#bookworms#bibliophilelife#lovebooks📚 #bookslover#booksarelife#books📚 #beautifulbooks#bookishlife#bookstagramflatlay#readersofig#readersgonnaread#readersofinsta#lovereading#bookaddiction#booksofig#bookpic#readingissexy#alwaysreading#becauseofreading#mybookfeatures
Did you really think I wasn’t going to post today?! As I mentioned in my stories I have a beaut book to share today. Instagram is a cow and won’t even fit my SHORT review so I’m going to put it all in my blog review tomorrow, and just leave you with my rating and the synopsis! (Swipe for Rivera’s comic! She is the first Latina to write for Marvel!!) Happy Publication Day!! Juliet Takes a Breath by Gabby Rivera⠀⠀⠀ ⭑⭑⭑⭑⭑ Honestly this is the book I’ve been waiting to read: maybe this sounds weird to come from a straight white woman, but I want to see the world through other people’s eyes, to walk in their shoes, and to learn about the real stuff. Thank you Rivera, for letting me meet Juliet and sharing her story through the highs and lows of her most life changing summer. ⠀ •⠀ Juliet is “a self-proclaimed closeted Puerto Rican baby dyke from the Bronx” and she is taking on everything this summer. She kicks off with coming out to family the same night that she leaves for a coveted position as an intern for a popular feminist writer. Juliet is ready to change her life and learn all the answers from her biggest hero. At first her biggest hurdles are dealing with her families reaction to her news, and her long distance relationship with her first girlfriend - but soon Juliet will realise this is just the tip of iceberg, that she has a lot of learning to do this summer, and a lot of self reflection. Juliet is about to learn what it is to be herself- female, Latina, gay. A big thanks to @thedialpress for the review copy #partner Full review on the blog later this week. 45/26 #readingchallenge2019⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #juliettakesabreath#gabbyrivera#bookreview#notjustaprettybook#reviewsneedlovetoo#readwithwine#currentread#whattoreadnext#bookblogger#bookflatlay#bookblr#bookish#riotgrams#bookstabuddies📚 #bookreviewblog#readingcommunity#readersofinsta#bibliophilelife#bookpics#peasinjordanspods
Happy book birthday to Merged by Jim and Stephanie Kroepfl with @month9books ! Thank you to Month9 for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. 🔥 Merged is a new sci-fi, futuristic fiction piece that explores the concept of taking someone’s consciousness and “merging” it with someone else’s, therefore extending one’s life. 16 year old “Nobels” are chosen for their proclivity for a certain topic, and have a genius’ consciousness put into theirs when they die. With all the technological advances we make, the possibility of this is far more likely now than ever! I really enjoyed Merged, and I definitely think y’all should pick it up 😊 🔥 A full review is up on my blog! ❝It’s always been fascinating to me how things can be simultaneously true and false, how people can be good and bad all in one, how someone can love you in a way that is beautifully selfless while serving themselves ruthlessly.❞ —Taylor Jenkins Reid, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo . . . . day 17: lay all your love on me | fave books #booksandthedynamos The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is definitely my all time favorite book. It was my first adult read and I enjoyed it so much!🙌✨ . . . . 🍂what’s your favorite book EVER?
I love being able to check out e-books from our library via an app. Never thought I would be into digital books, but they’re handy. Nothing beats the feel of paper though. - Searching for Sylvie Lee was a page turner & kept my interest. Sylvie, the successful adult daughter of an immigrant family goes missing. Her sister, the timid Amy, is on a mission to find her. She goes far beyond her comfort zone in an effort to track down her beloved sister. I had many questions throughout the novel & most answers were surprises. So I would give this one a solid 📖📖📖📖 out of 5️⃣. - I’m searching for a book that blows my socks off & creates a strong emotional response. Y’know, one of those books that lingers with you for days after you finish. Any suggestions? I haven’t had one all summer 😕.
—Nature finds a way, people. ✨ Nemesis . . Hello! I'm a few more chapters into The Gilded Wolves and it's not bad but,,,it really feels like a knock off of Six of Crows😥 like it's very similar, which I love six of crows so that's fine, but it almost feels as if it's being ripped off??? I don't know, maybe that'll change, I'm only on like chapter eight and I'm in the stages where I'm getting all the characters info, so🤷♀️ but I like the writing! Like a lot!! I've never read anything by Roshani Chokshi before so I was pleasantly suprised😊 have a good day everybody!!! . . Qotd: a character you changed your mind about? Aotd: noah from the Project Nemesis series. I liked him a lot at first, but after the end of the second book and the third book, I found him very annoying 😅 . . . #book#books#bookish#reader#bookstagram#bookobsession#ireadya#bookstagrammer#bibliophile#bibliophilelife#bookgoals#bookphotography#booklover#readersofinstagram#readersofig#goodreads#epicreads
~~~ I had a little bit of extra time during my lunch break, so I decided to head over to a place that I randomly discovered 2 years ago. It's a second hand bookstore owned by Americans. • As soon as I walked in, I got these throwbacks from my childhood when my parents used to take me to those kind of bookshops to buy a lot of books: it was really magical for me, you could find hidden gems sometimes, you just had to keep looking 💎 • These little bookshops really have a soul, nothing like the big bookstores that we are more use to nowadays, don't you think? • ↝ Do you like second hand books? Or do you prefer getting them brand new? • • • #bookgasm#bookjunkie#bookdragon#bookblogging#fortheloveofbooks#favoritebooks#readerlife#booksforever#bookpics#igreaders#booksarelife#readerforlife#booksaremagic#bookhoarder#cozyreading#readingaddict#alwaysreading#bookishallure#currentreads#bibliophilelife#bookalicious#readingislife#instalivres#instalivre#instabooks#instabook#bookshopping
