Currently dreaming of kid rooms. Specifically a boy’s room for a certain going on 2 year old. I know, I know. I said I was going to wait until after baby, but I just can’t help myself! Kid’s rooms are my favorite. Lost on how to design a kid’s room that will age with your kids? Here’s my foolproof method: 1️⃣ Step outside the kid’s section for your core pieces. Invest in furniture, such as the dresser, bedside table or bed, that is high quality and built to last. You’ll be surprised how playful “adult” furniture can be. 2️⃣ Have fun. Commit to whimsy and playfulness in at least one statement piece. In the case of our daughters room it’s the wallpaper, but large scale art or a great built in bunk works too! 3️⃣ Mix it up! If there was ever a place to have fun with pattern this is it. If your new to pattern mixing start with a palette of 2-3 colors and switch up of the scale, then blend in some solids. A great place to start is with kid’s bedding. I like to keep the duvet white, than have fun with the rest! 4️⃣ Basket, bins, end of the bed trunks! There is no such thing as too much storage in a kid’s room. I prefer my kids’ stuff stored in things that have a lid or in a drawer to eliminate visual clutter. Fact: black and white art transforms any space from boring to extra. Even though our #malibuhouse is somewhat coastal, adding in cool, abstract art gives it that something special. Sunday plans: ✔️Church ⛪️ ✔️ Birthday celebrations 🎂 . After church we went to Wendy’s and ordered food and when we got to the window to pay, the car in front of us had paid for our order 😳. For some this isn’t a big deal, but we have a big family. 5 kiddos and always a $50 bill when we get fast food...I felt guilty 🤣. Even paying for the two cars behind us, it wasn’t even half of what our order was!! BUT man it sure was awesome to receive that blessing today. Just the act of kindness alone, made our day! . I want to share my beautiful friend Liz @casagrella ❤️. She is kind, funny, and I love her home!! Listen folks 🗣 We should follow people on this IG platform who inspire us, and not make us feel guilty about what we don’t have or can do. Whether it be to be a better person, decorate our homes, whip up the yummiest food, and/or dress a little snazzier! Whichever it is for you!! So go and check out Liz’s beautiful home and make sure to see her fabulous front porch that she changes up every holiday!! It is one of my faves 🙌🏻
Home...a place where you feel safe. Where you can love, cry, laugh, share, sleep, and rest. In the wake of my son leaving for college, I am reminded of how cozy home is. And how I can’t wait for him to come back home and see us. I had NO idea how hard this whole thing was going to be. I’ve never in my life had two polar opposite emotions at exactly the same time. Happiness and sorrow all in one moment. How is that even possible? For all of you other mommas letting your child go off to college, I know you feel my pain. It’s a heck of a lot harder than I thought. Anywho, I wanted to share this lovely home by @nestingwithgrace because it gives me all the homey feels. Have a great Sunday evening friends.
We are not much for political posts, but we think this needs to be said. We are pro kitchen. 100% into them. Every shape, every color and every age. We think this is a kitchen everyone can get behind 😉, it’s open and airy. We created depth by selecting a cabinet paint color that had warm neutral undertones, a handmade zellige tile backsplash and carried wood tones throughout. Just to reiterate, we are kitchen people. Always have been, always will be. #notsponsored Are you pro kitchen??? #designyoureveryday Design: @brettandkara Build: @highstreethomes
I made the mistake of doing the Beavis and Butthead “Great Cornholio” thing for my daughters one night when they asked for tp. So if you know me personally and either of them put their shirt over their head and tell you they’re the Great Cornholio... yup... that’s all me. 😆 #topparentaward
What a weekend. We had the best time at the lake with our friends. Laughs, boat rides, wine, is there anything better? Now back to reality but ready to take on another week. What about you, did you have a good weekend? 🌿
Who loves a great Before and After? This room serves as an office/den for my clients. We were able to repurpose all of their furniture simply by getting it reupholstered. A big change on the walls with some wainscoting and dark gray paint brought this room from dated to amazing! I would definitely want to relax in there now.
I’ve deemed today as self care Sunday. I began my day with a sunrise meditation (sweet Lola joined me in her favorite morning spot). Rising early is no longer something I dread but sacred time I look forward to and cherish. It’s my time. I also booked myself a massage, followed by a much needed pedicure. Yay! No more half gel pedicure (that’s when your gel polish begins at the middle of your nail because your nail has grown out so much 😆). _____ Several years back Kasey and I started a practice of rotating Sundays. We take turns having a Sunday all to ourself to do whatever our heart desires. His Sunday is ALWAYS, I repeat ALWAYS, spent golfing and my Sundays are often spent doing absolutely nothing. It’s when I exhale. Sometimes I crave just being home (homebody 🙋🏼♀️), and on those days Kasey takes Maddyx out so I can have the house to myself (the best, right?). While I absolutely love that time I also know I need to get out of the house and truly practice self care (which doesn’t consist of doing things around the house). So today I began that shift. Heck ya, I left the house on my day! 😆 I’m also planning on getting back into my yoga practice so I’ve been researching classes in my neighborhood to start going to on my Sunday(and maybe even one or two during the week). I tend to lean towards being a creature of habit and find comfort in the known, so even taking a new yoga class with a new instructor and new faces can intimidate me. I know, so weird, but true. But, as I always say... we grow in the discomfort, so as I grow wiser I continue to push myself to get comfortable in the uncomfortable. Even if it’s means I stop procrastinating and go to that yoga class I’ve never been to. That’ll be my next Sunday. Baby steps. _____ One last thing.. I shared in my stories a 40 day meditation challenge so if you’re interested in joining me, check it out! I just began today, so we could do this together!
