Sprouting Broccoli seeds :) I haven’t done this before, so I’m beginning with small amounts to test out how practical it’ll be for me to do this long term and make it a regular part of my diet. Why have I decided to do this? I watched an amazing Teds Talk a couple of weeks ago about...Broccoli. I’m not going to defend myself ha ha it really was educational and interesting. Please YouTube search teds talk-Broccoli and watch it! The health benefits to sprouting these seeds are huge and varied. I think most of us are especially interested in the high Sulforaphane content. It’s benefits are far reaching. Anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, brain protecting and helps protect against several cancers including colon and prostrate. It also has excellent skin regenerative properties and are prebiotic. There’s so much more to type but space is limited. So! I added 25grams of seeds to each of the jars and topped them up with filtered room temperature water. You then need to swill them around a bit, cover them with secured kitchen roll and place them in a dark place to replicate what would happen in nature. Then after about 12 hours I’ll need to rinse them in water. I’ll then add new fresh filtered water and follow this routine every 8 hours or so for roughly 3 days. Hopefully the seed will have begun to sprout. I’ll then move them back into the light but not direct sunlight. I’ll then carry on the rinsing process for a few more days until the seedlings are about 2 inches long. 50 grams of seed makes roughly 1/2 pound of sprouting broccoli :) Let’s see what happens. I’ll post results when they occur and eventually offer an opinion on taste and practically. Exciting stuff! Mango Orange Lassi 1 6oz cup vanilla plant based yogurt (I used@lovvelavva) 1 cup frozen mango 1 navel orange, diced and peeled Pinch of turmeric Pinch cardamom 1 medjool date, pitted 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk 1/4 cup ice (optional) . Add all ingredients to a high speed blender. Blend until nice and smooth.
