Third batch of awesome things happening at @socialoffline Social Art Revival Launch Edition curated by @thesketchup! This weekend at Church Street Social Blore make sure you stop by. The illustration is of Gary the eggplant diver who has webbed feet and is surrounded by glassy plant speech bubbles. What is he trying to say? Anyway, first of the lovely things happening at the event is the fine art exhibit featuring legendary @appupen , the creative genius that is @anoopkbhat, the wonderfully mysterious @morbidillusion and the stellar portraiture of @tiafafloof. 😍 The second is a Sketchbook Showcase featuring some mega talented artists who will have their sketchbooks on display for us to peruse, and have time to interact and chat with attendees. @artofroshan @theumbrellabar @felix.jackson.__ @indiepaint @priberry @sanjanasinghart @the_artsick 😍 The third is an incredibly valuable workshop by @lifedrawingbangalore called Absract Figure Drawing which will happen Saturday morning in the redroom upstairs. Led by figure drawing stalwarts Felix, Pratiksha and Rahul, this not to be missed workshop is ticketed, please find details on their page 😍 Fourth is a @lilorosh stall, selling the most gorgeous artist kits and products. They are an incredible homegrown full of heart brand that makes excellent top quality products for artists. 😍 Fifth is @blrbusking who will have their typewriter out and ready to write notes and poems to strangers at the event 😍 And finally, super super exciting to have the beautiful Wine Exhibit by the exceptional Fratelli Wines which will be on display all weekend for you to enjoy! 😍 Make sure you come by, this is such a packed full of goodness event 😍
The second bunch of awesome stuff happening at @socialoffline Social Art Revival curated by @thesketchup. (Featured in this illustration is Gizmo the gasmask wearing dj with his magic shrooms.) Two great installations, one is some really giant flowers made out of bottle caps and other waste by @ecoecho_placeartscollective. The installation is called Flowers from the Land Fill with it they aim to celebrate 8 unsung heroes of Waste Management in Bangalore City. The second is called "it's everywhere" by @samresh____ who one day took some black spray cans and a silver marker and drew over all the objects in his house with his free flow of symbols. At Social Art Revival, we take his living room and transpose it into the outlet for two days. On Saturday 12-4pm, Samresh will be at the installation with spray cans and markers to guide you through his process of doodling. We have some great music acts too! On Saturday evening, Vachan Chinnappa and DJ Dwell take on the afterparty and on Sunday evening afropop from @aztectablesound and DiscoKid will keep the night going. Sunday afternoon we have a drop the needle vinyls and tapes only Listening room and flea market. And another beautiful thing on Sunday evening is an art showcase by @tabrezthird, a 19 year old artist from Kota who takes his favourite Bollywood and Hollywood movies and shows and pairs them with fine art paintings in a unique style of digital collage. After the showcase we'll have an Artist Paint and Hang where we'll use surfaces provided by the Social waste revival and bring our own paints for a chill two hours of hanging, chatting and painting. More about the line up of artists tomorrow!
This past month I've been curating and coordinating this gorgeous art festival happening this weekend at Church Street @socialoffline. It's called Social Art Revival Launch Edition, and it's their initiative to give a platform to independent artists in the country. We've brought together 45+ of some of my MOST most favourite artists from Bangalore under one roof for workshops, talks, exhibits, installations and an illustrators' market😍 There are so so many cool things happening, I'll tell you about a few of them every day. The first is the first ever physical exhibit of the @indiangigposterarchive. @mohinimukherjee has been collecting the art posters of all the independent music gigs that have happened over the years and archiving them on her site. How cool is that? This exhibit focuses on ten Bangalore centric gig posters and she'll also have a little bit about the history of these gigs and the scene in India. The second is a screening of this beautiful beautiful illustrated art film called "Death of a Father" by Chaitanya Tamhane, Somnath Pal and a band of amazing artists. That's Sunday evening. The third is an art chat with Manek D'Silva the creator of Bonabyl, a spooky comic book adventure. Manek has been working on this book for 4 years, I remember meeting him way back then and being fully blown away by this whole spooky illustrated universe he's created. It's self published and out now, and will be available for purchase at the event. AND he'll be sharing his journey with us, SO much to learn! The fourth is an art chat with Harshit Agrawal about Art and Artificial Intelligence. I attended one of his talks earlier this year and again, blown away. So many interesting projects, ideas and concepts from this mystical, magical realm of art that I'd never even though of or considered before😳 The talks are both on Saturday. And these are just a few of the things happening. I'll share more tomorrow. Oh and I've really enjoyed creating the poster art for
