The quest to find the best 2 person, travel friendly games ahead of our summer holiday continues. Treated myself to @gen42games’ Hive this weekend and after a few hands it’s definitely a contender. A kind of freeform chess with insects, each player gets a stack of tiles with different bugs on that can each do different things and move in, very, specific ways. The aim is simple enough, place, position & move your pieces to surround your opponents Queen Bee and, well, I guess do horrible insect things to her. Anyway glossing over that it’s fun, quick to pick up and play but definitely has enough tactical depth to ensure we’ll keep coming back. One note of advice if you do pick it up, we went for the ‘Pocket’ edition, and the pieces whilst smaller than the original game seem plenty big enough to us plus it comes with a couple of bonus bugs, so definitely the version I’d recommend picking up. #boardgames#tilegames#hive#travelgames#2player
The owner of the AirBnB we’re staying in in Brussels owns a coffee shop here too, apparently. The apartment is full of coffee books, coffee perfume, coffee candles and multiple coffee makers including a V60 I’ve bastardly used to make coffee on a morning ☕️🖤
