A beautiful article in @guardian yesterday about my dad's homeland - Genoa. Did you know that Genoa and its surrounding region has the largest number of centenarians in Italy, a country scientists often turn to when trying to understand why more people are living beyond 100 years old? The article discusses food and includes pesto and Focaccia as a staple of the Genoese diet. Click the link in our bio to read the full article! ❤️ . 📷 Getty Images via The Guardian
September 21. New home. New garden. New ground. Today I moved into a house in Lewes, a six month let initially. A month ago I arrived in England and had no idea what I was going to do beyond beginning of September - keep traveling, go back to US, stay in England. I have two trees left to research out of the ten, and a lot of writing to do, plus money to earn. I was sitting in @ninajpickup house and the thought of Lewes popped into my head. I’ve never thought of living here before, just been here a few times walking. I searched for furnished short let. This place came up, which is quite rare to find that combination. I looked at it after my first trip to Sheffield and decided to take it. And here I am. I am trusting ease. I am trusting simplicity. I am trusting being closer to nature. I am trusting myself. I am trusting the trees for leading me here. And thanking them. Day 133 - #thegroundingproject#trust#ease#intuition#lookdown#ground#earth

As part of the hoard of negatives and slides from the shed, from my photographic youth, I found some of Lewes Bonfire. . This was probably 1990/91, so after uni but long before I’d moved back to Brighton. . From the looks of it, shot without flash, so quite pleased with the detail in the shadows, though I admit I had to tidy up the noise post-scan. . More to follow ...
Gone walkin’. The weather was so beautiful it would be rude not to take full advantage of it. . . . . The Weald is good, the Downs are best – I'll give you the run of 'em, East to West. Beachy Head and Winddoor Hill, They were once and they are still. Firle Mount Caburn and Mount Harry Go back as far as sums '1l carry. Ditchling Beacon and Chanctonbury Ring They have looked on many a thing, And what those two have missed between 'em I reckon Truleigh Hill has seen 'em. Highden, Bignor and Duncton Down Knew Old England before the Crown. Linch Down, Treyford and Sunwood Knew Old England before the Flood; And when you end on the Hampshire side – Butser's old as Time and Tide. The Downs are sheep, the Weald is corn, You be glad you are Sussex born! - Rudyard Kipling . . . . #sussex#lewes#walking#rambling#countryside#country#rural#castle#downs#downland#southdowns#southdownsnationalpark#nature#sunshine#beautiful#sunny#autumn#autumnal#weather
As I sat in meditation this morning the whole world slowed down. I went from replaying an endless list of to do’s to almost instant peace. As my thoughts quietened I was drawn to the sound of a blackbird singing close by, blue tits chirping and chattering in the pear tree and then a woodpecker drumming through the bark of a hollow tree in the distance. My oven then joined the choir, whirring as it dried the ceps that my partner harvested the day before. The Sun that was pouring in through the window had fully saturated my clothes by this point, it’s gentle warmth was contrasted by the pressure of my waking body on the hard floor below, still cold from the night time. All of this in the first minute. I opened my eyes five minutes later feeling balanced and present. The to do list can wait. I’m going to enjoy the outdoors instead. Wishing you all a peaceful Saturday. 💫 . . . #meditation#mindfulnessmeditation#naturetherapy#aseasonalshift#hyggelife#meditationiskey#yogaeverydamnday#heathers#gorse#scotspine#heathland
In The @Telegraph today, @DeeBeeFree’s piece about his grandad Richard Wicker’s war book & our cycle ride through northern Germany this summer, retracing his steps as an RAF POW 🚲 🚲. . It would’ve been his late granny’s 91st birthday today - so lovely to see her photo included. . The book WE HAPPY FEW by Richard Wicker is available to buy from most online book shops!
💖 IT'S OKAY NOT TO BE OKAY 💖 . It took me a fucking long time to be in a happy place with myself. It was never easy and it's still an ongoing journey ☺️ . Sometimes life throws me off track and I struggle. Big time! . Sometimes I put too much pressure on myself, can anyone relate? 🙌 . I listen to my body when I need rest. I listen to my mind when it needs a break. I listen to my heart that says it's okay not to always be okay 💕 . I don't like being down but it is okay to give in as long as you can come back fighting. As long as you've got the support in place to help you get back 💖 . I am no where near where I used to be but it doesn't mean I don't have shit days 🙈 . To be the best version of yourself takes effort, it takes time and it can be really hard to grow but it's SO worth it 🥰 . So even when you're having a bad time it's okay! It doesn't mean you give up because giving up on yourself must never be an option ✌️ . You are worthy 😍 You are enough 💗 You are magical ✨ . NEVER GIVE UP ON YOU 🌟
